Why, oh why, can't we be good little soldiers like the unnamed Senior White House official wants?
Whew, that was a tongue twister! Let me try again: Why, oh why, can't we be good little soldiers like Rahm wants? I'll tell you why, Mr. Unnamed source. You have spit in the collective face of your base. You think your base is to the right of Attila the Hun, er, DLC. Guess what? We aren't and the unions aren't and you had better just figure that out, Unnamed Senior White House Rahm. We worked our collective LIBERAL asses off to get your guy in the White House and yeah, we knew he wasn't as liberal as we wanted, but since he said he just needed to be pushed, we GOTV for him and then we spent these two years pushing and pushing and pushing. Either he doesn't care or our comments are getting filtered through an Unnamed Senior White House Rahm.

We're the fucking retards who are fighting you at every step of the way. Now, unions have become fucking retarded too! Yay, unions! Welcome to the underside of the bus. I'm well aware that it's crowded under here but at least we all like each other down here and we recognize that we aren't retarded.

No, we didn't defeat Blanche Lincoln (might as well have an R after her name) but we came close. Consider it a shot across the bow and if she loses to the Republican, well, that's too bad but usually when faced with a choice between a real Republican and a fake one, the real one usually gets the nod. At least, with the real one you know to buy lube after the election.

4. Each day brings some new tidbit that increases my distaste for this administration.
I honestly thought 2008 would change things.

Today's tidbit was Daniel Ellsburg's article noting how Obama is actually worse than the chimp on some very important issues. (prosecuting whisleblowers, executive branch secrecy).

Ellsburg says he will still vote for Obama in 2012 because it's better than voting for a repuke. I wish I could say the same.

It's very depressing.

Things must be great if that's all some people have time to worry about.

25. Did the White House repudiate the unnamed official?
Why no, they did not. Instead they reinforced the remarks, only saying they might have used different wording.

And they might have kinda, sorta apologized to the union leadership. We don't really know for sure because it was behind closed doors. Not in public. Because this White House would never want to be seen as "in thrall to the unions". No sirree Bob! Why those mean ol' Republicans might start to say nasty things like Obama's a leftist communist muslin. Or things to that effect.

Oh wait, they already are saying those things. They've been saying those things from Day 1.

But you're right. How dare anyone get their hackles up over such remarks. After all, it's not like it went out on the airwaves, was discussed publicly by the pundits, and is yet another stab in the back of Obama's core constituencies.

Oh wait.

14. maybe using funds for organizing is the best strategy
isn't that what the Service Employees union had originally urged the AFL-CIO to do, rather than devote the bulk of funding to political action at the national level? as far as who to support politically....well. the unions have been shafted by Dems....letting EFCA wither, insisting on the excise tax on "cadillac" health plans, etc...

Maybe the fucking fascist bandaid just needs to be ripped off. Perhaps we would already be in the street if McCain and his idiot had been elected.

Maybe we just have to let this dying country go.

11. We All Suspect With Very High Certainty That This Unnamed Senior WH Source Is Rahm.......
Edited on Thu Jun-10-10 09:07 PM by global1
how much damage will this guy do to Obama before it sinks in. Rahm must go. I'm not really that excited to cut him loose cause I live in Chicago - and he does want to be Mayor here.

But Obama needs to fire Rahm. He's destroying Obama's base. Axelrod and Plouffe need to lean on Obama to fire Rahm. These guys worked to hard to get Obama to the WH. They can't let Rahm destroy all that work.

I don't think Obama's presidency will hold up to much more internal destruction by Rahm.

How can we get that to happen? Is there anyway we can sway Obama to fire Rahm?

16. Axelrod is an ad executive, and Rahm is not the only DLCer in this administration
in fact the non-DLC are the tiny minority in this cabinet, and not because there are other liberals non aligned with the DLC, but because there are actual fucking republicans in his cabinet. Because nothing says "change" like keeping the same guy in charge of the most significant issue from the past administration: the war.

So replace Rahm, and then what? Get another DLCer in his place, because sure as fuck Obama ain't going to get a liberal anywhere near him, much less as his chief of staff.

I told him that I could keep my mouth shut and stay out of trouble but there was a problem with that.
When he asked what the problem was I told him "I don't like the taste of shit"

21. Wouldn't you?
I think maybe Obama thought we would be satisfied with another Bill Clinton. But that just isn't good enough. We need someone with the strength of FDR and with the true audacity to hope because this is the end of the empire, but it can be a soft or a hard landing and the leader of the nation matters in that landing.

We needed far better than Bill this time around. So, now we have to look elsewhere. Yeah, I'm mad at Rahm, but I'm down and outright furious at Obama. Rahm is a snake. He never represented himself as anything better. But his boss did. Rahm is sneaky but he generally says what his truth is, even if it's odious. I don't know what the fuck is going on with his boss. Was he just a great campaigner and a lousy leader or is he being told to behave this way and is just too conflict averse to do otherwise or some third unthought of thing?

26. I do believe he was told what he can and can't do and what his goals were to be.
I posted about it at the time, his first speech after he won the election, where he said many of us would not be happy.

If you can find it on c-span.org archives go back and watch that speech again, not just his words but his expression.

But I don't think it's about Rahm or Obama. I think it's about the total corruption of our system.

33. Boy, all this criticism of Obama on the Greatest page of DU today. And he deserves it.
Yet in other posts, the least criticism brings out a feeding frenzy of liberal outrage.

Makes one wonder if the outrage is real or if a significant minority just want an excuse to get outraged and become offensive.
