Maybe we need a little My Big Fat Greek Wedding wisdom here.
Lots of us are having conflicts with how to impact the government, elected officials, buisnesses.

I have always laughed at this saying from My Big Fat Greek Wedding":

"Let me tell you something, Toula. The man is the head, but the woman is the neck. And she can turn the head any way she wants. "

Take it for what its worth.. but nothing like letting your elected officials know in masse (getting friends and families together to letter write, call etc) to get things moving.

Actually that works with about anything.. :)

7. That was actually my first thought.
"The OP is going to say we should put Windex on the oil."

But seriously...that part of the movie amused me because it reminded me of my mother and her penchant for finding some OTC product or other and then going through a period where she would seemingly recommend that single product as the cure to everything that ailed you. She'd almost force you to ingest it at the single word of any physical complaint. It became a running joke: it didn't matter what you had, Mom was sure it could be cured with Parepectolin, Robitussin or Afrin.

3. And that is why many of us took Obama up on his recommendation to make him do right
Of course, we get blasted for it with regularity around here.

As citizens in a democracy, it is our obligation to make the leaders do right. That so many have abdicated that sacred responsibility is one of the major reasons the government works for moneyed entities instead of for the people.

We need to exercise our muscle, regain our strength, and re-learn how to turn the head again. It would help if we did not pull so hard against each other, and learned how measured tension to and fro can make things move in a progressive manner again.

4. Maybe some people need to figure out where they really stand on a certain issue

and fight for that rather than for individual politicians or political parties.

Then and only then do our votes become worth something. Because the votes will actually mean something.

6. There is a lesson to be learned from the religious fundie whacko's that have foisted themselves and
their agenda on America.

They have a principle, a sick one, as far as I'm concerned, but they make politicians do what they want.

This mealy mouthed support for an individual person or party has gotten us no where.

We must stand firm on principle and issues. Then and only then can we truly make change or a difference.
