Lakers Beat Celtics
From staff and wire reports
BOSTON — The Los Angeles Lakers battled back in the NBA Finals on Tuesday night, fending off a furious second-half Boston Celtics rally for a 91-84 victory in Game 3 and a 2-1 edge in the best-of-seven series.
Kobe Bryant tallied 29 points and seven rebounds to lead the Lakers, who looked far more poised than in their Game 2 loss in Los Angeles. Lakers teammate Derek Fisher added 16 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter.

GAME REPORT: Lakers 91, Celtics 84

Kevin Garnett scored 25 points and added six rebounds to lead the Celtics, who trailed by as many as 17 points in the first half. Paul Pierce added 13 points while Ray Allen, the Celtics' Game 2 hero, scored just two points on 0-for-13 shooting.

The game was slowed by three official reviews of out-of-bounds calls in the final two minutes. Two reviews went the Celtics' way.

Bryant had 16 points and six rebounds by halftime, helping the Lakers take a 52-40 lead.

Lamar Odom had eight points at the half as the Lakers seized control late in the first quarter, helped by some awful Boston shooting. The Celtics went without a field goal for nearly six minutes spanning the quarters as Los Angeles built their largest lead at 17.
