cleaner...don't attach it to the bop but secure it somehow and suck the oil up this big tube like a big vacuum...there would be space between the tube and bop... but the suction would collect/suck up the oil...my non engineering mind is thinking of ideas...

35. So many suggestions make sense to those of us who aren't engineers, but I

think if it would have worked, they would have thought of it and tried. I'm thinking it's the "securing it" that might pose a problem -- that's a lot of force spewing out.

Or, maybe something like that IS the next step if this isn't successful. :shrug:

61. Why yes, it is a monkey fist. They're quite useful and easy to make!

You can make one out of shoelace, or use any size cord or rope larger than that.

A simple three-strand monkey fist can be made as a simple knot, or if you want some weight to it, tie a four or five-strand knot around a ball, a marble, a lead fishing weight.

These knots are useful as handles, of a sort, and are also used at the end of a "heaving line" (lighter weight line) to get a heavier dock line from ship to shore (I hope that makes sense).

I've made several of these, as small as keychains and as large as handballs for use around boats.
