Top Al Qaeda Leader Killed

Strike Said to Kill a Top Al Qaeda Leader
By ERIC SCHMITT

WASHINGTON — The operational leader for Al Qaeda in Afghanistan was killed in an American missile strike in Pakistan’s tribal areas in the last two weeks, according to a statement the group issued late Monday that American officials believe is correct.

The militant leader, Mustafa Abu al-Yazid, an Egyptian, was a top financial chief for Al Qaeda as well as one of the group’s founders, and was considered by American intelligence officials to be the organization’s No. 3 leader, behind Osama bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahri, another Egyptian.

“His death will only be a severe curse by his life upon the infidels,” Al Qaeda said in a statement issued to jihadist Web sites and translated by the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors statements by jihadists.

1. Good god, these guys have more "Top Leaders" than the North Koreans . . .
Have corporals.

Might it be a message that there's an endless supply of such highly trained and motivated people? Like they're being manufactured daily by the oppression of their own societies and the witlessness of the non-Islamic world?

2. Huh?
“His death will only be a severe curse by his life upon the infidels,” Is is just me or does that not make any sense? It's not exactly "I will return, and I will be millions" is it?

(By the way, I really hope I'm not the only one here who has seen Spartacus, considering it was one of the movies that broke the blacklist)

7. my sentiments exactly. guess who killed him...
"Under President Obama, the C.I.A. has steadily increased the number of missile attacks against targets in Pakistan’s tribal areas by remotely piloted Predator and Reaper drones. As of May 28, the C.I.A. had carried out 38 strikes this year, compared with 53 for all of 2009, according to The Long War Journal, a Web site that tracks the number of strikes."

9. In Iraq they were all #2-they had more #2's than a pencil factory.
In Afghanistan they're all "Top leaders"
I guess they figured out that no one believed that "#2" bit anymore.

10. Ah yes the occasional kill to keep the masses satisfied.
...Meanwhile the terrorists who are destroying our whole southeastern shoreline, wiping out a major food supply, altering 100's of 1000's of peoples way of life forever, making our beaches uninhabitable for decades...they are being coddled and aided in the cover up of their crimes by our own government. We are truly in the grasp of a powerful corporate/government entity that is going to be very hard to take down.

Next up...strip entitlements...the corporate media tells us the deficit is our number one concern!

15. This must mean they've killed all the "Al Qaeda Number Twos."
At last count, they killed AQ's number two 57 times.

I wonder how many times they'll kill the number three.

19. I wish they'd catch Al Rushbo and Al Beckerwood
And send them to boot camp. I'll bet Becker thinks that a blanket party is a place where he and his little friends can go and fondle warm soft things while they suck on their little chubby thumbs. Taliban boot camp would be a place where Rush, Glenn and their ilk would at least be with troops that they have so much in common with. Pumping propaganda for the Rabid Reich wing is a tough thankless job but those can-do Koolaiders Rush and Glenn are ready to rumble. Send Whoop-Ass Barbie and her lipstick to Afghanistan and the Taliban will pack their bags on their own.

20. They've been gunning for "number 2" leaders for so long that the Taliban eliminated that position
altogether. That's why they're going after the number threes now.
