Bob Graham will co-chair Obama oil spill commission
From Alex Leary at Tampa Bay's The Buzz:

May 21, 2010

Bob Graham, the former Florida governor and senator, will be named as co-chairman a new presidential commission to investigate the Gulf oil disaster.

Former EPA administrator William K. Reilly, a Republican, will serve as co-chairman.

President Obama will announce the creation of the seven-member commission tomorrow. Its mission is to come up with recommendations on how to prevent and mitigate future spills.

3. Future "spills"? Future volcanic gushing is more like it.
So. Now.

It's still drill, baby, drill, and fuck what we've learned: that it will NEVER FUCKING EVER be a smart thing to do.

No vision.

Disgusting.

5. Graham's a good guy and the commission is fine - but I want to hear...
...the president say that BP is a criminal corporation and the gov't will take over.

For God's sake, now BP is keeping wildlife experts from saving the birds and other animals - only their contractors are allowed to do the work. (KO tonight)

9. Feathers and fur hold a lot of oil.
They're probably wringing them out into tankers before they bag em. If they let rescue workers clean them up, they'd lose that oil down the drain with Dawn dishwashing liquid.

12. Yes, Graham's a good guy.
I'm not familiar with the other. The commission will probably do a thorough job of investigating the oil spill... whether Congress censors the report or follows its recommendations is another matter.

6. A commission to prevent oil spills? What a crock of shit.
You want to prevent oil spills?

DON'T FUCKING DRILL OFF SHORE! :grr:

Now, Mr. President, give me a check for how ever many millions of dollars you were going to waste on that bullshit.

I promise I'll put it to much better use than they would.

8. CLUE: Offshore drilling is going NOWHERE
NOWHERE

IT WILL NOT END.

The sooner you accept that fact of life the happier you will be.

IF you cut off off shore drilling tomorrow, you would destroy the worldwide economy in less than sixty days.

11. No hyperbole at all
If you cut the oil futures that much, you would destroy the economy.

FACT: Goods must be transported.

FACT: Transportation depends upon oil.

FACT: The current supply of oil is inadequate to meet current demand.

End off shore drilling and you cause a panic in oil futures trading driving costs through the roof. When costs run through the roof and supply declines, goods can no longer be transported and all trade begins to crumble.

Our economy is driven by fossil fuels. Until there is an adequate substitute, you cannot end off shore drilling.
