BP managers just happened to be on DH the day of the blast?
Edited on Wed May-19-10 04:57 PM by subsuelo
Did anyone catch that on the 60 minutes show? Brushed off like it was just a random coincidence.

BP managers were flown on to the Deepwater Horizon the day of the blast, to congratulate the crew on 7 years of no accidents. And while they are there is when it starts to blow?

Am I alone in thinking - maybe that is *not* a coincidence? Maybe someone had a vengeance? (no idea who or why, just saying that's one option) BP is coming across as a horrible company, who probably have made plenty of enemies, Transocean being one of them (for example).

Just throwing that out there. Maybe it's been talked about and dismissed already?

Or maybe it's time for another dungeon? :tinfoilhat:

1. How nice of you.
Manufacturing a scenario in which BP is the injured innocent.

Was it hard work?

5. This had been reported elsewhere (the non-corporate media) even before 60 Minutes
Thom Hartmann and Mike Malloy both mentioned it on their radio shows. I'm reasonably sure they got it from the same source, but I don't remember what the original source was.

So it's known that the BP bigwigs were there the day of the blast. Only question is when exactly they left. And obviously, they ain't talking.

14. So Hartmann and Malloy both mentioned it...
... has anyone that you've heard suggest that this is sort of an odd coincidence?

7. Or more likely, the managers were there because they knew there was a problem
and BP doesn't want to admit it. Recognizing the crew sounds like a flimsy cover story.

9. More like cause a problem
Worker bees know how things turn to shit when management has to have a photo-op perfect christening -- Challenger, the Nedelin "accident" (http://www.russianspaceweb.com/r16_disaster.html). Sounds to me like all their managerial decisions came to the logical conclusion.

10. Or there was an order to speed things up.
That's probably it. The crew felt pressured to produce results faster and the accident was the result.

13. he does say the managers ordered them to speed up
so it's not like that part is much of a guessing game.

BP is definitely at fault for a number of things including obviously criminal negligence. I get the impression from this whole thing that they just didn't give a damn since they knew they had only a $70 million cap if anything disastrous ever happened, and with all the ongoing deregulation there just wasn't any incentive to actually play it safe.

I just have to wonder about the timing of the whole bit about the managers arriving to congratulate the team on the exact same day that the rig blew up. Who I am suggesting was behind it I have no idea, just throwing speculation out there. Who knows maybe there was a split within BP itself. All the unliked managers got sent on that day. It's just speculation, all I can say is that it is too weird of a coincidence to just brush off.

8. I'd say there is a good chance they were cutting corners
to get things done in time to impress the brass.

15. Out of curiosity...
What's your simple explanation on why the managers were flown in to the rig on the same day the blast occurred?

Just a weird coincidence?
