We almost took out Blanche Lincoln yesterday
There is a run off election in June between her and Bill Halter.

If you can afford it, send a little money his way. Blanche Lincoln is as DLC as they come so we need her gone. We also need the White House to get the message that we aren't going to settle for scraps anymore. They need to know that we want our party back and that the tent isn't big enough for Republican Lite.

1. I sent Halter a little $$ as soon as they posted the runoff notice.
I like him. I dn't live in Ar. Thank God! But Blanch has always grated on my nerves, Even when she occasionally makes sense. I'd really like to see her defeated!

2. With our help Lincoln will go down in a head to head battle with Halter
I will certainly donate to Bill Halter....the republicans are giving money to Lincoln knowing she will be easier to defeat then Halter in November...Halter will win in November with our help. Donate and let's get rid of the republican voting corporate shill Blanche Lincoln once and for all!

23. Yes, you're right ... that if Halter doesn't win, Blanche will go down in November
one way or another. There's no way for me to hold my nose to vote for her! So I am working hard to make sure Halter will win!

Go, Halter, Go

4. i think that's what we need.... for our 'representatives' to know that they could actually
lose their job. They only act like they care when it's election time and the rest of the time they are doing the bidding of their corporate sponsors. They can do that because they know that we'll just keep reelecting them. We need to not keep putting up with this bs.

7. Yes, it's a lesson they need to hear loud and clear
and soon before the corporations really ratchet up their ability to buy elections.

9. Yeah, they lack any fear of the electorate
I think it's high time they stop assuming we'll just do what they tell us. I'll admit that in a general election, I will vote for any Democrat, but in the primaries, if I have a choice between a blue dog and a progressive, I'm voting progressive. And Rahm can just go shove that up his *^^.

5. stats from election speak volumes

the 42k of that disaffected vote did not want Lincoln - I highly doubt they'll flow her way, and the numbers on the Republican side don't add up to a win, so my best guess is that you are looking at Halter for Senate in the Fall, especially as his name recognition increases, Blanche's overt support from the WH drops (as happened with Specter) and the fact that someone knocked her into a runoff gives them the momentum.

hers to lose, and she did.

Go Halter!!!!!!

by sending money to Halter if one is able.

12. Not as well as Lincoln in Arkansas- purity may trump power and the GOP takes AR
Edited on Wed May-19-10 07:45 AM by stray cat
its a conservative state - they generally don't elect if ever hard core progressives that DU supports. Arkansas has a lot of farmers - Lincoln is chair of agriculture and many know that extra clout is good for AR farmers. Halter does not have that advantage.

15. Virtually the same
"Whatever happens, both Democrats face a steep challenge defeating likely Republican nominee, Rep. John Boozman. The TPM Poll Average of a Lincoln-Boozman general shows the Republican ahead by a margin of 54.2-37.0. Against Halter, Boozman still dominates. The TPM Poll Average for that race shows Boozman ahead by a margin of 52.8-37.1."

But Labor will sit it out in the general election if Lincoln is the nominee, and it would fight hard for Halter.

24. All of us should fight hard for Halter
He's progressive. This was the strategy many of us on DU suggested and we need to stick with it, with on the ground support and money.

14. No, I don't
The primary numbers say that the Democrats are energized and they were able to force a runoff with Blanche despite Clinton and Obama's backing. This will energize the progressive Democrats even more. It might well be a squeaker but I think we will have a new Democrat in Blanche's seat.

16. Good News!
I'll settle for a runoff - I agree with Clinton and Obama backing Licoln, the progressive base will be energized.

Anyone hear about Harmon in California?

21. I haven't heard any polls but she must be scared
because she has lots of TV ads on and I don't recall her having to do that since she first ran back in the 90's.
