The emergency financial manager for the Detroit Public Schools expects to announce a final school closure and consolidation list on Wednesday that will be reduced from the 42 buildings that were initially proposed for closure.

The list will detail schools that will close this summer.

In March, Robert Bobb, the state appointee who controls the DPS budget, had proposed closing 41 school buildings and one administrative facility in what would have been the nation’s largest school closure plan.

The number of school closures is being reduced based on feedback from dozens of school-based and community meetings, DPS officials said.
