DoJ Finds "Unwritten Exception" for Pre-Election Voter Fraud Indictments
Edited on Sun May-06-07 11:07 AM by kpete
An "unwritten exception." How nice.

The Justice Department is still desperately trying to portray the indictments as uncontroversial. As I reported Friday, the Justice Department's election crimes manual is crystal clear: "most, if not all, investigation of an alleged election crime must await the end of the election to which the allegation relates." And that's investigations -- an indictment, obviously, would be an even greater departure from policy.

But here's what the Justice Department told Savage:

The department said Schlozman's office got permission from headquarters for the election-eve indictments. It added that the department interprets the policy as having an unwritten exception for voter registration fraud, because investigators need not interview voters for such cases.

.............

Just consider: On November 2, 2006, the indictments were widely reported, many of them featuring a quote from Schlozman that "this national investigation is very much ongoing." That same day, Schlozman released a statement that his office would have a prosecutor on duty on Election Day, ready to pounce at allegations of voter fraud. This was in a climate of trumped-up hysteria about ACORN's efforts to register poor voters both in Kansas City and in St. Louis, where Republicans were charging that tens of thousands of voter registration forms were "questionable."

Schlozman, in other words, knew just what he was doing. And now the Justice Department is inventing "unwritten exceptions" to its policies to cover for him.

2. Well hells bells, what other 'unwritten exceptions' to official policy or laws
are out there that we don't know about?

My guess, practically every law, rule, code, and ordinance has a 'unwritten exception' when it comes to these felonious bastards.

6. I am going to do my part
But I am one person, come the next election I will work my heart and would to get Dem's to vote, so that we can get rid of these cockroaches.

At least they will go back under the rug for awhile.

We may have 2 wars going on in the Middle East, in a way we a a much larger one here.

Until the cockroaches are exterminated, we will never have peace and the earth will look like the moon.

8. The reason for this policy is that RIGHTS are not to be BURDENED up front, rather
their abuse is to be prosecuted after the fact, to avoid burdening the free exercise of the right. So it is more than just a DOJ "policy", it is the respect for constitutional rights to vote that is at issue. And yes, the right to vote is a fundamental right protected as such pursuant to the fundamental rights doctrine of US Constitutional jurisprudence. Once a state sets up voting for a given office, including the presidency, then the federal fundamental constitutional right attaches....

11. Swell, now we're into "Minority Report" territory
Gee, we're pretty sure a crime is going to be committed, so we're going to arrest the perpetrator before he has a chance to commit his crime. Absolutely fookin' brilliant.

13. Just another way to keep the numbers at the voting booth low.
When fewer people vote, repukes are more likely to get elected.

So if you can make your citizens afraid that they might get arrested for a clerical error on the registration, well then fewer people will turn out or even register.

It is all part of the amazing repuke success. Keep as many voters as possible away from the voting booths and you are more likely to get a repuke voted in, especially if you motivate the few hateful voters with a scare or hate tactic.

15. K&R
So they were gearing up to steal the 2008 election by pre-emptively tossing out minority voter registrations. Seems like the DOJ itself was violating the Voting Rights Act, doesn't it?

16. 2008... YOU WILL SEE IT AGAIN
unless the democratic congress closes the loopholes and forces states to adhere to federal standards (so state gop leaders cannot tilt the state results), YOU WILL SEE IT IN 2008

it is ALREADY 2007...

go to senate.org and write your senators to INSIST that this be cleaned up before 2008
