WARNING ABOUT PRIVACY AND FACEBOOK (all FaceBook users should read)
Facebook’s Gone Rogue; It’s Time for an Open Alternative

E

"Then Facebook decided to turn “your” profile page into your identity online — figuring, rightly, that there’s money and power in being the place where people define themselves. But to do that, the folks at Facebook had to make sure that the information you give it was public.

So in December, with the help of newly hired Beltway privacy experts, it reneged on its privacy promises and made much of your profile information public by default. That includes the city that you live in, your name, your photo, the names of your friends and the causes you’ve signed onto."

3. Just keep your privacy settings up to date
Every time they've changed their privacy policy I've gotten a message as soon as I log in. It's always had a link to take me to the privacy settings page where I could adjust it as need be. Anyone can check and control their privacy settings by clicking on the "Account" tab and selecting "Privacy Settings". I don't think the situation is nearly as insidious as the article lets on.

5. How can anyone be shocked by this?
Facebook mutiliates its users privacy in far worse ways than this.

8. Because "anyone" is not just us ....
Edited on Sun May-09-10 07:57 PM by wroberts189
It is your, or my, sister or brother or teenager or mother etc... who still think we play in a fair world where corporations are not built on evil and greed.

But you knew that already I suspect... sad people are so gullible. Hurts even more when they are family or friends.

6. The lossof our privacy? What about the outright loss of
our family members. I had a husband once.

He often would join me in activities. We'd do things like play scrabble, or take walks or talk for hours.

Now all that has changed, as he is online with Pink, Lady Gaga, and Pretty Panties...
