Take a look at this:

Nine members of the Hutaree militia group accused of plotting against the government can be released until their trial.

The nine members of the Christian militia group were indicted in March on multiple charges involving an alleged plot to attack police, including seditious conspiracy and attempted use of weapons of mass destruction.

Judge Victoria A Roberts ruled in U.S District Court in Michigan's eastern district that the Hutaree members don't present a flight risk, and that the government failed to prove that they present enough of a danger to the community to be held until trial.

If it wasn't so typical, I'd probably be outraged. I'm not. This is par in America. Here we have nine people, members of a militant white Christian militia, indicted on charges including seditious conspiracy, attempted use of weapons of mass destruction, teaching the use of explosive materials, and possessing a firearm during a crime of violence." WMD!!! (hand smacking forhead)

Just imagine this was a group of Latino immigrants. Or possibly a black nationalist outfit. Or perhaps a group of Arab-American extremists from Dearborn. Can you even imagine these characters would see the light of day? They wouldn't be in jail. They'd be at Guantanamo awaiting torture...

1. They would still be in prison...
Because they are 'christians' and 'right wingers' it's okay to let them out until their trials. But you're right. If it was a Muslim group they would be in jail indefinitely, before and after their trials.

2. It's the old double standard.
Remember the homeless black guys in Florida who wanted to blow up the Sears Tower but were looking for boots at the time they were arrested? They never saw the outside of a jail cell or court room once arrested and they posed a far lower risk to society than the Hutaree terrorists.

6. So
the government intentionally failed to prove that they were a danger to the community, because they are white? That Judge Roberts would have disobeyed the law and let them bond out even if the government was able to prove it, because they are white?

8. The Michigan State Bar Association Web site has a portrait of Judge Roberts - Nice looking woman
Edited on Mon May-03-10 01:01 PM by slackmaster

...Hon. Victoria A. Roberts of Detroit is currently a federal judge for the Eastern District of Michigan and served as the 62nd president of the State Bar of Michigan. Her strong leadership in voluntary legal services to the poor and dedication to pro bono and public service initiatives earned her nomination by the D. Augustus Straker Bar Association. During her State Bar presidency, she appointed the State Bar Task Force on Racial/Ethnic and Gender Issues in the Courts and Legal Profession and implemented the State Bar's first "Access to Justice for All Hotline" for the public during the State Bar's Annual Meeting....

9. So these traitors, that given the opportunity, would love to kill the very judge
that presided over them and yet are let go without a second thought? Must be more going on then we see on the surface, they must want to catch a larger crowd. Guessing they are doing this in hopes that these traitors will lead them back to a bigger den of vipers.

12. That's right. When available evidence doesn't support the conspiracy theory, you have two choices:
Edited on Mon May-03-10 01:27 PM by slackmaster
A) Shrink the conspiracy to a handful of highly secretive and crafty insiders who are working on a grand plan that only they understand, or

B) Expand the conspiracy to include anyone who might be associated with the core conspirators.

Or maybe the judge made the correct decision based on the law.
