The only problem I have with any of this is the loss of the jobs by u.s. citizens. We need to have open borders so people can come and go but we need to enforce our employment laws. I guess from a politicians point of view the way things are now is the best way for things to be because their big donors get cheap labor and give them cash to keep things as they are. The present politicians are the problem not the people who have been forced to come here and allow themselves to be exploited, forced and exploited is the key words here. Our policies towards our neighbors to the south of us are the reason for all this.

4. Most of the taxes we (the average person) pay are not federal income taxes

When we buy airtime for our cellphone, gas, retail goods of any kind excluding groceries, registration on a vehicle, etc. We pay various taxes.

Everyone in this country who consumes goods and services pays taxes. Be they here legally or not.

Seriously, some do, some don't. Most of the illegals I'm acquainted with work for cash. Illegals are the perfect employee; pay 'em cash, and they won't complain that they're not getting minimum wage, don't require $2-$3/hour in L&I or SS taxes and if they get hurt, put 'em on a bus back home.

a checker took a $100 bill from a dusty Mexican with working hands who spoke no English whatsoever, wrote $20 on the receipt and handed him back change for $20

A couple other people in line saw it but just stood there because his deamenor was "illegal", so I stepped through and asked her, after asking him in Spanish to confirrm it was a $100 bill even though I saw it myself and of course he did; to make it right or call the manager...she made it right. She would not have done so unless she knew what she was doing and more importantly why. "Illegals", whether they pay taxes or not (and it isn't all about taxes), are standing outside the law in too many cases and subject to abuses.

There is a greater incentive for "illegals" to learn a bit of conversational English and become 'legal'

Everyone just knows that their position on illegal immigration is right. Logic tells them so. No amount of studies or facts is going to persuade them otherwise.
