Arizona citizenship law...a bigtime winner for the GOP?
Today's Denver Post has a poll showing over 77% agree that Colroado needs a law like Arizona's.

Not a scientific poll, but still, 77% is usually reserved for questions like "Are the Broncos your favorite football team."

Also, the 10 or 12 employees in the staff lunchroom where I work were unanimously and enthusiastically in favor of such a law--EVEN THE FOUR LATINOS!

Unbelievable.

But then, remember, this country elected reagan twice.

3. No. Nobody is going to vote for the GOP because of this law, but a lot of people will vote against
them because of it.

5. Really?
10 people in the lunchroom with me, and I was the only one opposed to this?

I agree that many people will vote against them for it, but I disagree that "Nobody is going to vote for the GOP because of this law." I think a larger segment of the US public are reactionary redneck shallow thinkers than you realize.

6. Most people who are so very much in favor of such a thing probably already vote GOP.

Other people might be OK with it, or even in favor of it, but not to such an extent that it overshadows everything else.

4. the 60+ retired white crowd seemed overjoyred about it last night
100 % agreed that California needs the same law.

Best argument "how can it be racism if Latino isn't a single race but a bunch of races all mixed together"

If only we enforced those employment laws maybe they won't come?

7. This crowd was as follows:
one middle-aged white guy (known rapublican)

two younger males (thirtyish)--one known to have been an enthusiastic Obama supporter in 2008

two older white females (50-60's), one married, one divorced

the rest were 20's to 30's females

four of them latinas!

9. Everyone on my job is against it except the Puerto Rican dude.
He listens to Beck, Limbaugh and Hannity all day long. And I bury him every day when he brings up their bullshit at lunch. It's quite amusing really.
