Massachusetts residents who lost a job as a result of last month's flooding have less than a week to apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance benefits. Applications must be received by the close of business Monday.

The program provides compensation for workers who don't normally qualify for unemployment benefits, including self-employed persons, employees on commission and other categories of workers. snip

Benefits are available to unemployed individuals for up to 26 weeks from the date of the President Barack Obama's March 29 disaster declaration. The assistance period ends Oct. 2.
