Here’s the guy running the Arizona Legislature, Russell Pearce, on immigration
Here’s the guy running the Arizona Legislature, Russell Pearce, the one who made sure his Republican peanut gallery got SB 1070 passed, speaking in September 2006:

“We know what we need to do. In 1953, Dwight D. Eisenhower put together a task force called ‘Operation Wetback.’ He removed, in less than a year, 1.3 million illegal aliens. They must be deported.”

“In the ‘50s it was common. In the ‘60s it was common. You don’t use it today because people have tried to make it offensive. Things change, and you know what? Who cares? Whatever they want to be called, I’m OK with that.”

1. People who feel compelled to wrap themselves in the flag
are most likely trying to cover something up

6. Remember in 2000 when he was an elector
and said, he would vote for Gore IF enough people called in. I wonder how many called, he didn't vote for Gore. I didn't think he would but, I did call anyway.

5. I loved my flag
at one time. Thought it was the most beautiful flag in the world. Everything about it, the symbolism of the colors and design. For the 2000 bi-centenial my Mom and I crocheted a red/white and blue afghan.

I get pissed off now with eveything made to look like the flag. Ties, underwear shirts - it's all taken the 'special' out of the flag for me. Worst of all is seeing these jackasses wrap themselves in our flag and disgrace it. <sigh>

7. I recall people from the left being arrested for shirts a lot like that in the 60s

Seems we still have two sets of laws in America.

I haven't been able to say the Pledge of Alliegence since Ford pardoned Nixon. I can't that last line out "... with liberty and justice for all."

All of our history shows me that line is still a pipe dream at best, and most likely an outright lie. But I got so furious when Nixon was pardoned, I had to face reality and could not pretend anymore.

With the neocon war criminals still free, that last line is more than just a lie.

And the flag should be at half staff until that last line is realized.

8. I'm a boomer, too.
I remember Abbie Hoffman with a shirt like that. Damn, wonder what he'd say if he saw how far down we've gone.

Another milestone for me was 12/12/99 when the USSC 'elected' *bush. Absolutely devastated me. I could not believe what they did!! I'll never forget it because it's also my Mom's b'day. She passed away before the stolen election or she would have died over that bullshit. She was a union organizer in her younger days and a FDR devotee her entire life.
