I know the Republicans are using bigotry and fear in this Immigration issue

Arizona just gave the world a glimpse into devolution.

If these supposedly Christian right-to-life, Jesus lovin' Muslim-hatin' people were really concerned about the illegal immigration issue, they would propose actions similar to what law enforcement use against drug smugglers.

Seize the businesses that hire illegals (yep, make the business owner responsible. I have to prove to my employer I have a valid drivers license and insurance and have current state licenses)
I grew up in central Washington State...Apple orchard country. the farmers association would advertise on radio stations in mexico to come to washington to pick the abundant apples!

Why aren't we seizing these orchards and auctioning them off to "honest law-abiding" farmers? Why haven't we seized the lawn-Care companies that cruise by Home Depot to pick up day laborers and auction it off to the law-abiding competition? seize the construction company that keeps unions at bay by hiring illegal carpenters, dry-wallers and such?

Dry up the job market and maybe there will be a lessening of the illegal immigrant market. As long as businesses are allowed to lure the illegal into America, we will have a problem.

As long as the GOP is allowed to preach fear, and hate, the problem will not be honestly addressed.

4. +1, I agree, but it makes too much sense for the US to do... It might actually solve

the root cause of the problem. This country screws over illegals in many ways, wants to screw them again, but none in power (Arizona) want to fix the root cause of those that hire illegal labor and create the demand. We've become a country that wallows around and never fixes the root cause of problems, so we go after the people, not the root cause... So, we get yet again, as you say, "As long as the GOP is allowed to preach fear, and hate, the problem will not be honestly addressed."

5. I do know this

Every time a Democrat legally beats a republican in an election the republicans get more and more out of control. NOW, when Obama wins the 2012 election do you think they will declare war. I am sure they will ratchet up the rhetoric and finally threaten AND use violence. They are a bunch of losers who can not stand to loose.
