Guru defined a genre and changed the face of hip hop. This is a great loss indeed.

2. What a sad loss for hip hop
Edited on Tue Apr-20-10 12:54 PM by Hutzpa
one of the pioneers of taking hip hop rap to the masses with his collaborations
with jazz musicians. Very knowledgeable fellow, will miss him dearly.

Was a huge fan if this guy.

And the dark streets winds and bends" - Shel Silverstein

Go in peace good man.

3. He's one of my favorites. His first Jazzmatazz CD turned me onto jazz
and, ironically, away from hip hop....and I've never looked back.

7. Legendary rapper, legendary group.
DJ Premier, the second half of Gang Starr, has produced many great hip hop songs too like "I Used to Love H.E.R." (Common), "Memory Lane (Sittin' in da Park)" (Nas), and the remix of "The Shit is Real" (Fat Joe).

This is a shocking loss right here. Next to Baatin (of Slum Village) who died last year. And others far beyond Tupac and Biggie.
