Republican calls on his party and the South to "rise again"
Edited on Mon Apr-19-10 07:27 PM by Bluebear
Michigan Rep. Thaddeus McCotter gave a shout-out to the old South in his address to the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans earlier this month.

"It's been a pleasure to be in your presence, of the the Republicans of the South, who will help us all rise again," McCottter said, concluding his speech. "Build the party, trust the people, save the country."

"The South Will Rise Again" is a slogan associated with the Lost Cause of the Confederacy, controversial enough to have led the University of Mississippi last year to discourage sports fans from chanting it.

7. Not to quibble, but dogwhistles are usually a little more
subtle...this is pretty blatant. :hi:

These idjits are getting on my last nerve with this shit. I grew up very close the Chickamauga/Chattanooga National Park and as a kid would spend time in the main part of the Park, the GA side, and perhaps these stupid fucks should spend a couple days going through it. There are monuments there from many states and the visitor's center used to have records of how many soldiers died in just that area. Rant off, for now, but this is stupid talk by these halfwits. How in the hell do these morons get elected in the first place?!? "Armed and dangerous" Bachmann included.

9. For a long time I thought this country was past this, especially then with the
election of Obama, and it presented a wonderful image of the US to the world of freedom and equality. I find it so disappointing the US appears to be backsliding, I find it so concerning that the RW media and political celebrities are feeding the hatred and racism, offering little in realistic and healthy solutions for the US. It is RW recklessness.

11. If the South ever rises again, the North will kick its ass again.
Even if Idaho and Indiana rush to help the southern-fried boys. I've said this before: every progressive nation in the world will pitch in to help us out. Most moderate, centrist nations will, too. And a few conservative nations, like Poland and Italy, will be on our side in order to protect trade relations.

We'll bomb them back to their trailer parks, and then bomb the trailer parks. Small loss...

Fuck 'em all...

Sure, Mr. McCotter--I'm sure they'll get right on that. Just as soon as there's nothing on TV or at the Wal-Mart.
