Breaking Toyota will pay a fine for their sticky pedals
Edited on Sun Apr-18-10 10:38 PM by nadinbrzezinski
per CNN.

Now folks where are all those folks who said it was the damn drivers?

Sorry... but there are times that yes CORPORATIONS do these things. And to be honest, this is a cost benefit analysis. It is less costly to pay even the lawsuits than fix the problem. It was the same logic that led to a certain Pinto not being fixed for YEARS.

(Thanks to the DU grammar patrol... there are days we just make funnies)

1. Instead of a fine, they should just swap the cars out for Hondas
That would benefit their customers more than a ubiquitous fine to the "govt"..:)

5. These days I still drive an 18 year old Toyota 4x4
I was joking with a neighbor that mine came with brakes.

11. We still love our 1991 Accord EX..close to 300K miles
and it still has a lot of get-up-and-go.. It's no longer beautiful & shiny, but it's been a great car:)

13. Our first Honda Accord staid in Hawaii
not worth the cost of transport.

But we love our Civic Hybrid and We are thinking of exchanging that 18 year old truck for another hybrid

2. It's one thing to report
It's quite another to call out fellow DUers.

Call me old fashioned, but you may want to edit your post.

6. No doubt, but that is still calling out and against the rules
FWIW, I have no intention to alert because, rules aside, I agree with the feeling of anger an frustration.

Edited on Sun Apr-18-10 09:59 PM by nadinbrzezinski
and the corporation could not be at trouble here. Call me old fashioned but this should be a lesson of why we should NOT just trust corps blindly.

10. Some folks do,,, why the blame the drivers attitude
It's been an amazing thing to watch though... I fear the reason why the whole story fell apart was one of the victims was a CHP officer, highly trained driver.

And you see it not just here, it is in the water as they say, in the United States. You may say part of it is well a good dose of propaganda. And part of it, well a LONG history... some of this goes a LONG TIME back into US History... and our worship (not you or me necessarily) at the altar of private property.

14. Your heart is in the right place
And, FWIW, I do agree with you in general principle.

Heck, I OWN a Prius, so I'm one of the Toyota fuckees.

My point is a point of etiquete; never single out fellow DUers for scorn.

General public, by all means, nail them to the wall.
