Sausage Fest on Morning Joe: "Chicks dig rock stars"
It's Joe, Tom Brokaw, and a couple of other dudes. Mika wasn't even there for decoration. James Taylor was brought up and Joe mentioned how he'd dated or been married to Carole King, Carly Simon, and Joni Mitchell.

"Chicks dig rock stars," observed one of the dudely sausage-bearers. I think it might have been Brokaw but I was looking at my laptop.

Ummmmmm....all of the aforementioned "chicks" are successful musicians in their own right!!!

But they were involved with some dude who made music, which automatically downgrades them to the state of groupie, I guess.

Sexism in the morning. Gotta love it.

5. Haha
Didn't you get the memo? Since sexism against men is not deeply ingrained in our society, and has never been legalized or institutionalized, it cannot possibly exist or ever be a problem!

Yes, if a man had made a similar comment about how there are no men in the "taco fest" on The View they'd be flamed, but double standards are just a part of equality! Errr, wait...

Sexism against women is deeply ingrained into most every society on Earth. Regardless of our sex, our culture teaches us that women are meant to be sexual objects and possessions that go to the most successful and powerful men. Women are successful if they are desired by men, and ought not to focus on their own skills or abilities beyond physical vanity, and perhaps cooking and cleaning.

This is why open minded people every where rail against patriarchy.

That does not mean talking about sexism and a "sausage fest" is not ironic.

Fucking simple minded PEOPLE can't seem to make this distinction, as this thread makes clear.

14. Exactly. James Taylor is a "singer," or a "musician," but he's no "rock star."
Folk is folk. A couple of up-tempo radio hits don't make you a rock star.

Edited on Thu Apr-15-10 11:33 AM by NashVegas
I've got to at least give him credit for choosing women who bring the goods to the table over women who get their on their backs. ie, the typical groupie.

(I know, it's bad. I'm smarting.)

17. Excellent point. They are all as or more accomplished musicians
in their own right than JT.

And JT's hardly a rock star.
