A Question I Asked A Fellow Co-Worker....STILL WAITING ....

For the answer.....

A fellow Christian coworker this morning was rambling on about the West Virgina coal mine accident saying that the owner of the mine was not all to blame that the workers should have used their training to save their lives..... So I asked him....why is it that Christians have a narrow viewpoint when it comes to RIGHT TO LIFE issues and seem to support the corporate viewpoint as well..

Im still waiting for the answer...

1. The "right to life" only applies before you're born.

2. You say a 'Christian' coworker, but to what extent
Edited on Wed Apr-07-10 05:18 AM by elleng
does he THINK of himself as such? Think he/they relate Christianity to corporate viewpoint? SHOULD they?

3. How is he an expert on coal mining?
Or have the RW talkies been pushing the "Big Coal is Our Friend" meme again?

4. I'm still waiting for an answer to "who would jesus taze"
after a fundy relative (step-relative, thankfully) claimed that the man who was tasered to death in Vancouver "deserved it"

9. I'm still trying to figure out
why most of the drivers on the road in AZ with Right To Life or Choose Life or whatthefuckever license plate on their vehicles drive like bats outta hell. I guess that they only care about the lives of fetuses....not about those real, breathing, living peoples.

5. It's common knowledge that God hates miners and other blue collar workers
rich people, especially rich white men, have better souls than everyone else. If you weren't such a heathen and read your Bible cover to cover every single day you'd know that and would not be stupid enough to ask a satanic question like that.

6. he means the workers should have had a bake sale
to raise money to fix the ventilation issues in the mine? Like we all, pitch in to fix this problem?

The workers were using their training by asking the mine owner to fix the ventilation problem. I'm sure he was told repeatedly . Oh yeah, and the Mine Safety Board told him repeatedly as well.

7. Did you ask your coworker what he/she knows about mining?
:sarcasm:

Massey's Upper Big Branch Mine was cited over 600 times in just the past 18 months ... 54 in this past March alone ... for safety violations, most violations having to do with improper veltilation.

This is a non-UMWA mine. Years ago miners used to strike over lesser things than this. The concern over the safety of miners took a nosedive when George W. Bush appointed Dave Lauriski, a former mining industry executive, director of MSHA. And of course, his top deputies were also industry executives.

Did you ask your coworker how the miners' training is supposed to save them from an explosion so powerful that it blew the air out of the mine with the force of a hurricane wind? Of course he/she could say that it was a act of God.
