Today's front pages, Bush vs. Barbaro
I checked the front pages of today's newspapers across the West to see how many were covering the dead horse vs. Bush's latest executive order. The results weren't pretty. (I didn't count promos, refers, and other non-story material that appeared on the pages.)

Barbaro on the front page, but not Bush's new rule:
The Oregonian
Eugene Register-Guard
L.A. Daily News
Orange County Register
Long Beach Press Telegram
Nevada Appeal, Carson City
Arizona Daily Star
Denver Post
Kansas City Star
San Antonio Express-News
Austin American-Statesman
Dallas Morning News
Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Houston Chronicle

Bush's new rule on the front page, but not Barbaro:
Wichita Eagle

Both stories on the front page:
The Gazette, Colorado Springs
Press Democrat, Santa Rosa

2. I can't read about either one.
Bush just makes me depressed and I start to wonder how we will ever recover from his disastrous presidency. (We will but it will sure take some time.)

And Barbaro makes me cry. Barbaro was such a noble soul.

I never even heard of Barbaro until this week. Do that many people watch the ponies?

4. There are also people who do not know who is in the Super Bowl this year.
And you certainly don't need to be a football fan to be aware of that. Yes, many people do watch the ponies and many of those who don't are certainly aware of a Kentucky Derby winner who won the race going away and who shattered his ankle in the Preakness Stakes, the next leg of the Triple Crown which it was thought that Barbaro had a good chance to win. Ignorance is not something of which to be proud.
