5. Duct tape and cable ties
You had your chance to speak, Mr. Roeder. In a courtroom, the judge gets the last word, then he bangs his little hammer thingy, and everybody else goes home. You go to jail.

15. Did you see the part where Roeder told the judge that he should aquit him?
He actually told the judge that he should overrule the conviction and acquit him during the sentencing earlier. He also swore he would kill again. I hope he rots.

6. I'm glad to hear that.
He would seem to be someone who would be likely to kill again. This way he will never have a chance to do anything that horrendous again. Hopefully others will think twice before killing another doctor.

7. i don't think his sentence will be a deterrent, unfortunately

26. Yep. It would have been better for his cause if he got the death penalty.
Instead he gets to sit in jail for the rest of his life.

10. They won't feel
like being a martyr about five years into a fifty hear sentence. They'll feel more like idiots for throwing their lives away by taking another's life.

28. Roeder is such a whiner...I give him 5 weeks, not years...
...he is gonna get his ass whipped all the time. Such an arrogant POS ... who does not respect the rights of others one small bit.

11. Oh yes--he said so himself.
In fact, he tried to use his statement during the sentencing to encourage OTHERS to kill for the same reasons. He tried to make the argument that "God's Law" is higher than man's law. I'm cool with that idea--so long as all the people who believe such a thing agree to move to "God's Country"--cause America is FREE. This nation belongs to NO "God".

19. He said he would kill again today and urged others to do the same.
He is a danger to society with that lack of remorse.

13. No practical chance. He'll be 104 by the time he's parole eligible.
He's 52 right now--he's got to serve 50 years, plus two more years for the assaults he committed directly after the murder of Dr. Tiller.

Still I hope the murderer dies alone and filled with despair in cold cell.

25. Well knowing what we all know about dismal prison nutrition and lack of exercise,
I'd say that's a damned good possibility. Of course he'll get oodles of adoring letters from nutbags just like HIM, but nobody is ever going to LOVE that man again--not ever. I wonder if he realizes that yet?

14. And of course, a Facebook friend wants to know what makes him a terrorist rather than a murderer.
Yes, I'm bringing Facebook to DU. Deal. :)

I've been waiting for the verdict so I could post it and draw out the inevitable reaction from my FB friends. Sorry, it just amuses me. Of course, the first reaction is glad he got the sentence he got, but wants to know why he's a terrorist rather than a plain old murderer.

29. Terrorism = use of violence or threat of violence to force political or social change.
That's what Roeder was doing - murdering a doctor to make a political statement about abortion, and to try to coerce other doctors to stop providing abortions.

It's terrorism.

Ordinarily I assume one can be reformed...but chances are that one needs to be warehoused until his demise at 102.

What a total POS. Not one small bit of remorse for what he did to the Tiller family and bullshit about "baby killer" crap to everyone, including the judge.
