Tebow's pre-Wonderlic prayer request falls flat
Posted by Mike Florio on March 23, 2010 7:20 PM ET

As we've mentioned once or twice, quarterback Tim Tebow's habit of openly expressing his religious beliefs could potentially rub folks the wrong way, especially in a locker room of grown men who choose to keep their beliefs to themselves, who don't share his beliefs at all, and/or who only want to hear "God bless" after they have sneezed.

We're told that Tebow already has gotten a taste of the resistance he might face at the next level.

At the Scouting Combine, the Wonderlic exam is administered to players in groups. The 12-minute test is preceded by some brief instructions and comments from the person administering the test.

Per a league source, after the person administering the test to Tebow's group had finished, Tebow made a request that the players bow their heads in prayer before taking the 50-question exam.

Said one of the other players in response: "Shut the f--k up." Others players in the room then laughed.

"the hypocrites love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen...When thou prayest, enter into thy closet and when thou has shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret..."

P.S. Isn't praying to win (particularly on an intelligence test) a form of taking the lord's name in vain?

5. Maybe they will give him a pre-hazing.
I'm sure no one hazed him in high school or college. It would be a change of pace for him.

A perfect hazing might be to stuff a bar of soap up his ass. And then just call him a butt wipe for the duration.

23. That's inappropriate.
I know Tebow is a twit, but advocating that someone haze him, especially by shoving something up his anus, is really beyond the pale.

24. Every team in the NFL has it's holy rollers. Kurt Warner is one.
Reggie White was one and at 6' 5" 300lbs I'm guessing nobody complained to him personally. Virtually every stud in the NFL knows how to take care of themselves.

Football Star Tim Tebow Helps Circumcise Pinoy Kids

By Cynthia De Castro/Asianjournal.com

LOS ANGELES – Florida Gators quarterback Timothy Richard “Tim” Tebow has achieved so much at his young age of 21.

(snip)

Recently, Tim Tebow did another first for a football superstar. The Orlando Sentinel in Florida reported that he helped circumcise Filipino boys during a missionary trip in General Santos City in Mindanao.

Of course, he's not qualified to do any such thing, but hey, if it's God's calling....

It's little reported, but he performed a circumcision on a poor little brown boy. No medical qualifications.

28. Genital mutilation for jeebus
Why is this shit still allowed to go on? There is NO medical reason for circumcision, but there's lots of money ("keep the tips" jokes aside) as corporations use mutilated babies' healthy body parts for their own gain.

The practice is barbaric.

It is social and religious.

38. You're right
His main job was to pray for the people waiting in line... Although he was very near, near enough to actually wield surgical scissors and snip the stitches...

Tim’s original task was to preach to the hundreds of people waiting in line before they had their teeth pulled or cysts removed. But as the day progressed, he looked for more active ways to help the three Filipino doctors. By the end of an exhausting day, he was wearing gloves and a mask, wielding surgical scissors, and helping the doctors in the circumcision of boys, finishing off stitches with a snip.

Edited on Wed Mar-24-10 03:43 PM by rocktivity
You haven't made your bones yet, Tebow. You don't get to do stuff like that until AFTER you've fulfilled your potential--and if only half of what I've heard is true, that's not a slam dunk, either.

On the other hand, the Wonderlic is an intelligence test, so maybe praying beforehand ISN'T such a bad idea!

19. What is wrong with religious freaks, they are always trying to
get people to do what they want. I know the radical Muslims in Far East are much much worst what with all the stuff they do, but they are trying to tell and MAKE people do what they want. Our nuts haven't risen to that level yet but they are getting there. Look at Bachmann she's way over the line.

22. Tim Teabag.
What a handful for whichever team is stupid enough to draft him. They're not only going to have to teach him how to throw a football but also how to not completely alienate his coaches, teammates, and the team's fans.

40. He's supposed to be the second coming...
But the problem with Tebow is, the fundies all think he's the greatest guy ever to wear a football uniform because he puts Scriptural references on his eye black and prays a LOT, but the football analysts don't think he can play in an NFL offensive formation.
