I just finished watching Friends Of God on HBO by
Alexandra Pelosi.

It was fascinating and sickening all at the same time.

These people SCARE ME.

But more importantly.

Isn't it about time some of these mega churches, that are so political, lose their tax exempt status?

It was repulsive listening to Falwell tell all of his little brain washed minions to actively campaign and vote for Republicans.

And it's not just happening there in Virginia.

7. Amen.....I was raised in the Lutheran Church and took the
religion thing very seriously. Now that I have seen the workings of religion and the pain it has brought to the world I'm mad. What a waste. But, back to the topic..I was just pointing out, not very well, that political propaganda is fused into the religions of the extremists right. Isn't there something in the Constitution against this? :sarcasm:

2. That comedian was so bad.
I know this was just a trivial thing but he was going on and on about how Hollywood wouldn't give him an opportunity because he was a Christian Conservative and all I could think was - NO, IT's BECAUSE YOU'RE JUST NOT FUNNY.

Deluded about the world and his talent.

3. But try to get the IRS to remove their tax exempt status....
no matter how far they push the envelope, religious institutions in this country will never be in jeopardy of losing their tax exempt status. The IRS makes their own rules and enforces them as they see fit. Now, if John Q. Public were to make an error on his tax return the IRS would ruin his life in order to enforce their statutes. Obscene penalties and interest charges ruin Americans by the thousands every day. Churches? Nah, that would be too much work and they'd ruffle too many feathers. It's a lot easier to terrorize regular Americans. The IRS operates without any oversight or decent moral constraints. Churches and corporations may cheat at will without impunity. Normal American citizens though..... they're the IRS's enemies. They're the ones who bear the brunt of the IRS's wrath and punishment.

A complete overhaul of the IRS is badly needed. They have too much power and their capriciousness in enforcement is a crime: or should be.

6. Well, I still hold out hope it will happen, but you're right,
it's not going to be easy.

There will be a lot of opposition.
