Let's get this straight - healthcare reform - public option, single payer is not socialism
Having a decent, low cost, quality health system has nothing to do with socialism.
The UK is not socialist and it has a beautiful NHS.
Canada is not socialist and it has an adorable healthcare system.
We, the USA can have a normal healthcare system without the present 'fascism?'

1. Not a small number in the US seem to like a fascist state. And IMO that is
because they are so ignorant and proud to be uneducated and ignorant. What a place. As one of my Canadian friends said, "The US has too many cowboys, hicks, religious freaks and RW'ers." Me, I think that too and also view the US today as a very unstable place. I don't know what to expect next out of this place.

4. Education has more to do with class than intelligence

So by mocking Americans' as "uneducated" you are (inadvertently, I am sure) making a classist remark.

As to Americans' ignorance, it is only to be expected. Our government and our country are the headquarters of the world wide corporate elite. It makes sense that they would want to keep the American voter as ignorant and as distracted as possible because only American voter is the only group that has the potential to destroy them in a single election.

6. There are many on the reich wing
who would vehemently disagree that with your stand that the UK and Canada are not socialist.

Nevertheless, look at one particular thing: In the US, entitlement benefits are limited in their amounts. We have dollar limits on AFDC, food stamps, and Section 8 grants. Yes, a poor person can get large amounts of college aid, but only if they maintain a certain grade point average. But even Social Security benefits have an upper limit, no matter how much the worker paid into the system during his/her lifetime.

With health care, theoretically the sky is the limit. When applied to Marx's "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" slogan, the potentially limitless amounts that can be spent on healthcare resembles socialism more than any other government-sponsored benefit.

7. Duh?......
Socialism is just a word the right wing uses to scare it's already paranoid, frightened and bigoted members so that the US can continue moving backwards towards a more 19th century type country.
