More Palin Hypocrisy: Tripp Has Government Provided Health Insurance
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/shannyn-moore/granny-palin-overcomes-he_b_470297.html
Shannyn Moore

The dangers of "death panels" were explained to Americans on Sarah Palin's Facebook page. Oh, sweet Lord, she must not sleep at night...her grandson could be the next victim of "socialized medicine".

Recently released documents from the custody battle show clearly Tripp Palin Johnston has socialized health care through Indian Health Services and the Alaska Native Medical Center.

Palin's family has federally funded health care afforded to them...but if you had it Barack Obama might kill you. Put this on the list of Palin's Greatest Hypocritical Hits...volume 97.

5. Probably
Never thought of it but they've probably all been on IHS their entire lives. And who knows what other benefits. Which I don't begrudge them, but it sure is hypocritical to want to prevent everyone else from having what they've got.

His mother, a former secretary of the Alaska Federation of Natives, is one-quarter Yup'ik, and his maternal grandmother, Helena (Bartman) Andree, is a member of the Curyung tribe.

they are discussing that here

Palin Family Could Apply for Free Federal Health Care
http://washingtonindependent.com/10743/palin-family-qualifies-for-free-federal-health-care
It’s unclear whether the Palin’s ever used the native health-service program. But, it’s likely that the family had a better option than “paying out-of-pocket” for health-care coverage.

10. Don't you get it yet?
Being on the government teat is just fine for upstanding Christian conservatives.

It's just bad for the rest of it because it might make us weak and lazy.

that Todd claimed a dividend of about $300 last year from his Native Corporation. In point of fact, the Native Corporations are a big rip-off of actual Alaska Natives. You might be interested in Shannyn's "Moore Up North" TV show this week. I've lived here since 1975, but I have been woefully uninformed about this topic. We attended the taping of this show.

http://shannynmoore.wordpress.com/2010/02/20/moore-up-north-7/

Over the last decade, many Alaska Native Corporations have massively blossomed into multi-billion dollar corporations by scoring sole-source, no-bid military industrial contracts. The ANCs have exploited a loophole at the expense of tax payers with little or no benefit to their own Alaska Native shareholders. The ANC’s have the ability to receive contracts of any size from a federal agency as part of a Small Business Administration program for minority and disadvantaged small business.

Recent government investigations and news reports have exposed how the ANCs have capitalized on the unique benefit and created complex business relationships with Outside multinational corporations that have no ties to Alaska or the SBA program.

Despite the multi-billion dollar contracts and record earnings, the average annual payout to 130,000 of the Alaska Native shareholders is approximately $615. In addition, a GAO Congressional Report found that most of the executive compensation is awarded to employees that are non-native. Overall, only 5% of the employees at ANCs are Native Alaskans.

According to a recent US Senate Committee Report, the value of Alaska Native Corporation contracts mushroomed from $508.4 million in 2000 to $5.2 billion in 2008 an increase of 916%!

In most publicly-traded companies, the Chief Executive Officer is the most highly-paid employee. According to the senate subcommittee report, for one or more years between 2000 and 2008, eight ANCs paid their CEO, a (native) shareholder substantially less than a non-(native) shareholder holding a lower-ranked position.

<snip>

Videos of the entire show are at the link.

One Native corporation, Chenega, Inc., has partnered with Blackwater, much to the disgust of many of us. http://www.csps-llc.com/pages/cbs.html

16. So did that apply to all of Sarah and Todd's children too? Todd himself?
Have they all been getting the benefits of a government health program while their mother/wife rabbits on about how bad the government is?

17. Trig is eligible for Social Security
My BIL, 42, has Down's Syndrome. He gets Social Security disability. He works for a company in California, getting the shopping carts from the parking lot and bringing them in. He has a counselor who oversees his employment. He goes to a program called "Adult Club" for retarded individuals. He lives at home, and my in-laws get a respite care person to watch him when they go away for the weekend.

I don't begrudge them any of this, but my MIL listens to Dr. Laura and makes comments now and then about why people can't stand on their own two feet. My FIL is very concerned about how much he pays in taxes.

These are good people, don't get me wrong, but as others have said, they don't see that the government is providing them more than they pay in.
