Anyone who has been through therapy or rehab knows that most programs require that you make amends in person.

IT is a part of the therapeutic process.

They have to see the pain they caused to people up close and personal. Now I know you guys are smart so smart that you know everything... but Tiger did hurt a lot of people besides his family. I know of a situation where a young girl golfer who looked up to him is devastated because her dad slept around on her mom...and it broke up their family and seeing her hero do it really hurt her feelings.

Tiger cannot go to her house and apologize and no one should expect him to. Releasing a statement is way too cold and impersonal and it doesn't allow for the healing to begin.

Being on TeeV is a great way of reaching those he hurt while allowing them to see his feelings on the whole deal.

Now for those of you who don't get this then great but don't be little the people who were hurt with your callousness.

The question is not whether people deserve an apology it is more about making amends so people can move on, his family, friends and his fans.

The statement wasn't that long, it didn't take any skin off your ass, so why even waste your breath complain about it if you feel it is so stupid and contrived? Seems to me if you feel it was such bullshit you wouldn't give it any thought. But hey, what the fuck do I know.

They are too stupid to turn it off and read a book.

well said.

I don't even watch golf and that was painful to watch because it was obviously a mending fences step.

7. Once the therapist or rehab director feels they are ready to make the step
they have to do it. It is a milestone in the process for a lot of programs.

I'm happy that the young girl I speak of is able to hear an apology. Because she never got one from her dad.

I know in my own experience that it is hard getting over a cheating parent. I'll never trust a man. EVER. From my point of view they all cheat.

Maybe if I'd gotten an apology or some sort of amends from my dad I wouldn't be so angry. But we'll never know.

I've tried therapy it helped me to get over the hurt but trust...I don't think I'll ever have.

4. I don't think the whining is about Tiger as much as it is about the media.
Play it once. Heck, play it twice. But don't put the damn statement on a continual loop for hours on end.

11. I agree with that part. The MSM is out of control but they do that on everything
not just this.

IT is the outrage of the day syndrome. Ranting here isn't going to change shit.
So put on a movie or turn off the TeeV. They wouldn't play it if people didn't watch it.

17. Actually I think they would...
it would fulfill their purpose nicely that way, as much as some of us don't want to admit it, MSM leads most of the important conversations of the day. Which is why so many repug's get away with the lies they tell.

5. I just don't think Tiger qualifies as a "Sex Addict."
Admittedly, I'm not a doctor and I've never met the guy, but what he did wouldn't seem sick or out-of-control if it was done by a non-celebrity. It'd be the act of a cad with a massive ego--and this seems like more of the same.

9. But isnt't that a part of it as well? Therapy will hit all of that and his ego. They will ask
why do you feel it was OK for you to do that and think you wouldn't get caught.

They dig deep in sex rehab, I saw a thing on it on Discovery health. People get angry, they throw shit...it is intense.

I think I get your reasons...
and their good ones, but it just feels like this is another in a string of distractions keeping us from more important discussions, like health care, DADT, two ongoing wars, etc... That's why I admit that I'm a little uneasy with the MSM saturation of what should be a fairly private matter.

It's actually ritual humiliation, but people call it "spiritual therapy" because it sounds better that way.

18. To me it's bullshit because ... it's NOT fucking NEWS!
This is just another diversionary human interest story masquerading as news -- the stuff we've been choking on ever since news organizations were turned into profit centers.

It nauseates me. Tiger Woods can make all the amends he needs to -- but on every network simultaneously? I don't follow golf, don't care about Tiger Woods, and I'm not alone. Sorry, but it's ridiculous to listen to the "in-depth news" discussions about why his wife should or shouldn't forgive him.

20. Ask yourself: "What did the Tiger Woods story interrupt?"
An in-depth panel discussion on the financial impact of Health Care Reform, or an episode of Judge Judy?

23. my almost 15 yr old son and i sittin in doctors with tv on listening. son said....
some stuff and we talked about what he was saying. taking responsibility. no excuses. so many apology isnt an apology. he is saying the right stuff.

son talking about allowing to learn things without having to experience in seeing tiger and how he thought it a good thing.

about the need to apologize on air, and the kids that looked up to him. little kids telling sex/screwin around jokes at such young age cause of tiger. repercussions cause of his behavior

so though in our house we dont care much about all this, it allowed my son to explore thought in a lot of different directions

i think tiger did a fine job, and that is about all i care about the man

up her parents' marriage and messing up her feelings? WTF?????

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Maybe she should arrange for her dad to do a public apology thingy.

28. amends in person does NOT mean a podium and news cameras
to the average addict.

This over-rated, pretentious smarmie little weasel could have done everyone a favor and did his *amends* in the board rooms of the companies that sponsored him, rather than feed his bloated ego by stepping in front of a bunch of cameras.

He wants his pedestal back -- waaaahhhh! Call him a waaaahhmbulance.
