Why are we not talking more about this Stark guy here on DU?
Now, I've been working all day. Maybe I missed it. Otherwise, should I duck and cover. What's going on?

1. there're a few threads
a lot of people are jumping to the conclusion that he's right-wing or a teabagger because he attacked the IRS. I happen to disagree as do others.

2. I didn't jump to anything...what do you think he is? I read some of his

statement and was confused. I guess my only solid instinct is that it was anger that flew him into that building and it is the anger that scares me, teabagger or not.

10. I didn't say you did. I was summarizing the tone of the posts I had read.
I thought I was helping you out.

I read his whole letter and he seemed like a man who felt he had been lied to and that nothing he could do would ever be enough to succeed.

The worst part of this is that he had a wife and a daughter (I think I read that, though she may be a step daughter since he was recently remarried) and not only did he kill himself... he burned their house down before he did it. What are they supposed to do now?

12. I'm sorry Tunk, I didn't mean to sound defensive. You are helping explain this
and that was what I was looking for. Thank you. I wondered about his family...it's the anger here, isn't it? Left wing or right wing. It is the anger.

9. Since he espoused communism and slammed capitalism and corporations and Bush in his manifesto
some are also jumping to the conclusion he's a liberal, also unfounded.

5. When people do bad, distructive things, does it matter what they are?
Thank you for explaining this. It really needs to be talked about here or we are gonna be as bad as the other side. Wrong is wrong no matter what the politics are.

11. Well admittedly I don't know much
But Christ on a Crutch people, if attacking the IRS-symbol of Government TAXES-and the only thing Republicans are ever totally untied on is their aversion to- (AKA the holy grail!) doesn't make him a RIGHT WING nut then there is no sense to be found on this board. I don't know about the rest of you, but I may not vote for Obama again, but I do vote for TAXES, for schools for things the community needs. I also PAY them because even though I despise the military industrial complex I know that there are things that TAXES do that help people.

If you go down ranting about GM Bailouts (that's in LBN) and wanting to kill IRS agents that's as right wing as I can imagine.

13. There have been no real reports from those who knew him...
Despite his manifesto, he is an unknown quantity. I'm waiting to hear from friends, work colleagues, neighbors, his ex-wife, and current wife. One tv station is now reporting police came out on a domestic violence call this morning... Interesting there has been no real follow-up on that.

17. Oh please this thinking drives me nuts!

All the friends and colleagues ever say is "What a nice guy he was." The more nasty you are in this life it seems the more defenders you have. They never suspect the serial killers either. PEOPLE are fools.
Casey Anthony anyone? The grandparents smell the dead grandkid in the mother's car-but they are defending her! People are blinder still if they love the person.

Personally I look at actions. He thought a great way to die was to kill IRS agents. I think that says volumes right there. Also I might point out-the Bush daughters also think George was a great Daddy. It's not relevant your honor, what's relevant is he started a needless war and authorized torture.

What's relevant about this guy is he flew a plane into a building intending to kill, people not what his mother says.

Common sense. Actions. Not opinions from loved ones.

19. You TOTALLY miss the point... TOTALLY
The guy burned down the house of his second wife and 12 yO stepdaughter, who apparently drove up as it was burning. Police are now acknowledging they came out this morning to investigate a domestic violence dispute. If you want to know who this guy was, I'm guessing they will have the story (as I suspect will his ex-wife)and I'm betting they will not be motivated to say what a "great guy" he was.

The point is not to excuse what he did, but to understand what was behind it-- had he contemplated something like this before. As with the University of AL Professor, might he have been STOPPED?

but drove up to find it burning. Where did you see it reported that they were saved by a neighbor?
