If you bought a used car from a private party, any idea how to
get on the list of recall notifications? I'm sure that the prior owner of my Pilot would get any notices, not me. I googled around and did not see anything where I could sign up for notices.
I don't expect anything, it is a great car but just in case.........

1. Here's a search engine to see if any defects/recalls were recorded:

2. Not sure but we get recall notices on 2 used vehicles - one a Ford and one an Audi
I don't have any idea why or how we get them other than that both cars have at one time or another been back to the dealer for service. I have never registered them in any way and I did not buy either one of them through a dealer.

3. Just go to, or call, a dealership...
...I believe they have to 'fix' it for you.

4. I have owned used cars for years
If you want to get notices from the manufacture, take your car to a dealership for service.

They will most likely enter your information and the vehicle in a database or report it back to the manufacture thus setting you up as the current owner. You will then get notices from the manufacture as well as sales crap from the dealer.

5. WHEn you register the car, you're on the list
I have gotten recall notices on second hand vehicles and I never did a thing. I think they get their info from the DMVs of states. That's the only way they could know who all has the vehicles.

6. Here's a site that might be of interest. I keyed in a vehicle at random,
and it came up with 15 notices.

7. They'll find you from RMV lists, I believe.
They did for me a while back.
