Ukraine's Sarah Palin candidate from the Teabagger/OrangeRevolution pro-Corporatist side loses
Edited on Mon Feb-08-10 02:30 AM by ConsAreLiars

The news: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8503177.stm

And the short story from that link:

The results suggest a remarkable comeback after Mr Yanukovych was swept aside by the 2004 "Orange Revolution".

Under the 59-year-old former mechanic, Ukraine's foreign policy is expected to become more pro-Russian.

'Full circle'

The BBC's Richard Galpin in Kiev says a Yanukovych win would be an extraordinary indictment of the pro-Western Orange Revolution leaders' failure to deliver on their promises, which has left people deeply disillusioned.

Twice Convicted Criminal, Forger and Possible Rapist Viktor Yanukovych set to become new PM

Yanukovych, I would argue, is worse:

1. At the age of 17 on December 15, 1967, Yanukovych was sentenced to 3 years incarceration for participating in a robbery and assault

2. Yanukovych also served a 2 years prison sentence in 1970 for theft and violence.

3. In October 2004 Ukrainian deputy Hryhory Omelchenko accused Yanukovych of having been a member of "a group of individuals who brutally beat and raped a woman, but bought off the victim

4. In 2006 a criminal charge was made for the falsification of documents regarding the retraction of Yanukovych's prior conviction. It was discovered that two documents had been forged regarding Yanukovych's robbery in association with rape and assault and battery. The signature of the judge for these documents in Yanukovych's retraction was also forged.

12. this is both utterly clueless and sexist to boot.
If you don't know anything about the subject, or the country, at least have the decency not to post.

16. The Orange Revolution was no Teabag Party.
Edited on Mon Feb-08-10 10:44 AM by Tommy_Carcetti
And while I am not a fan of Tymeshenko, in no way imaginable is she as vapid and substance-less as Caribou Barbie.

The Orange Revolution had nothing to do with wanting to cozy up with US or corporate interests. It happened because Ukrainians didn't want to cozy up to Russia, a nation that had oppressed Ukraine for centuries (in various forms) and had attempted to forcibly supplant its culture for that of Ukraine.

Unfortunately, what followed the Orange Revolution was disappointing to many Ukrainians, but that's politics for you.

Read a little before you start making ridiculously flawed analogies.
