Squeeze Inn restaurant serves up final burger at old location

SACRAMENTO, CA - Hundreds of people lined up throughout the late Saturday morning and afternoon to get one final sitting inside the Squeeze Inn on Fruitridge Road, before their doors closed for good. It operated at that location for 34 years.

"Everybody wants to be one of the last to get a burger at the original Squeeze Inn," said owner Travis Hausauer.

Many of his customers brought cameras to document their final meal at the restaurant. From the back of the line to the moment people got their food, the wait was upwards of two and a half hours.

"The (customers) have been real supportive, they know the situation," said Hausauer.

For him, that situation took a turn for the worse last summer, when a disabled woman filed a lawsuit against the restaurant. She couldn't get in, because the building couldn't accommodate her wheelchair. Hausauer had to make plans to move out, and start over.
