This is too cool. Mike Finnigan is the best!! I have been a fan for 30+ years. He used to live in Kansas and we have followed his career since the 70s. Mike played on Electric Ladyland with Hendrix and he has played with CSNY on their tours for a couple decades now.

Here is a bio I found: Mike Finnigan: Rocking out with the coolest man in Leftblogistan

His blog: http://crooksandliars.com/mike-finnigan/mikes-blog-roundup-407

And his website: https://secure18.hostek.net/mikefinniganmusic-com/catalog/index.php?osCsid=1b43b04b6029cb9443bf0626da0894d0

It's always nice to find people you like are good liberals. Phew.

MIKE is a member of Kansas City's own PHANTOM BLUES BAND.

How do I know this all the way down here in Orlando after all my years in KC?

DON FUCKING IMUS

Just for grins I DVR'd his show on Tuesday morning and I was about to hit the delete button when he said -

"Here's a cut from the Phantom Blues Band from Kansas City and this boy can sing some blues"

Bam -

I'm a fan.

Imus is an asshole, but god damn that boy knows great music.

Hope you are well!

edited to add - but you already knew that -

:hi:

3. Shit! I knew that! I told you I was a BIG fan.
He is really an amazing talent. He does commercial jingles too. We hear him all the time.

And way back when, we used to go to little bars in Kansas and hear him. One time he played at the civic auditorium in Emporia and there were only 3 of us in the audience. THAT was his best show I have ever seen. Years later, hubby and I went to see him at a much larger club here in KC and we went up to the stage to say hi and he pointed at us and laughed and said "EMPORIA!"

Also, David Crosby credits Mike for getting him sober. That had to be an interesting story. LOL

4. What commercial jingles? Would I have heard them?
I was there from 90-93 and 98-08 I had to hear one of them...
Damn, I miss KC.

5. Mike Finnigan and the Serfs!
I remember all the radio ads all the time for that band. Was it the Red Dog Inn where they played in Lawrence all the time? Ahhh, flashbacks.
