"Do you bank with" in this context means anything you want it to mean. It can be where you have your checking or savings or credit card or ATM or all or some of the above.

1. Credit Onion ....Union...
they have very good customer service, few branches (big drawback), $1.00 fee if ATM used at other credit unions, higher if used at 'vanilla' ATM's.

Customer owned.

4. If you have a mortgage, did they do that, too?
And if they did, did they keep it or bundle and sell it?

6. Small bank..
... that used to be a credit union but converted to a bank after 70% of the members voted to. Never mind that there only a handful of credit unions around here but a boatload of banks.

7. Credit Union
Local but I can do business anywhere in the country through the CU network. All I need is the routing number and account number.

10. None of the above.
I have so little money and no bills beyond rent and utilities that there is no need for any financial institution to charge me for using my money. And I like it.

16. Credit Union
I closed my checking and savings accounts at a big bank and opened a checking and savings account at a local credit union two weeks ago.

18. I wouldn't do business with a big bank.
Edited on Tue Feb-02-10 08:37 AM by TexasObserver
And haven't in over ten years.

I've sued most of the big banks (on behalf of clients), some of them more than once, so I wouldn't want them having access to my financial transactions, anyway. But I also wouldn't do business with them because they have no morals at all. No one at a big bank can guarantee any customer anything, because they're just companies full of little cogs that do as they're told. If they don't want to honor a loan commitment, they'll breach. If they lose your money, they'll claim they didn't. If they cash forgeries on your account, they'll still try to find a reason to deny their responsibilities. There is no such thing as a good big bank. In my opinion.

I only bank at banks where the people know you when you walk in the door, appreciate you and your business, and act like it.

20. Switched over to a credit union just this last year
It took me awhile to find a half-decent one around here, they aren't anywhere near as good as the ones we had out in the Pacific Northwest. I still have a couple of credit cards from major banks, but I have only used them for zero-interest loan promotions to pay off higher rate debts.

21. Webster....it is a CT bank. Serves Mass, RI, NY and CT.
I just found out per Wikipedia that it is the 31st largest bank in the U.S. so I guess it is not that small...

26. I have an account at Webster, too.
The people at her local branch took VERY good care of my Mom when she was still alive. (serious statement, no sarcasm). In view of that, I left some money with them so as to keep my accounts diversified. I don't, however, use them as my main bank because they're not local to me.

But yeah .... an okay bank.

22. my local bank was closed......
on Friday by the FDIC....bought out by another bank from my state...
I have half my $$ there and half in another credit union in the city.

Sad state of affairs to see the little bank of 60 years go down.

23. I wish I could get full service at my local bank...
I have main checking, savings, and ATM cards at a small local bank, secondary savings through a local credit union, and credit cards through two larger (national) institutions.

I'd like to have a credit card through my local bank and/or credit union, but they don't offer it.

24. Both. Can't help it.
Mortgage sold to big bank. Credit union wouldn't extend credit, so a credit card with a big bank. Keep some money in the credit union, though, as I like the idea.
