16. I think a little bit of both but..
mostly insanity...Just like Hannity they lost their minds because an AA was elected president even before then and now just about every issue they bring up has to do with AA and race. I click over to Beck every once in a while for a few minutes and he brings a show full of AA republicons on to discuss what is wrong with the rest of the AA population. He lets them do most of the talking and they usually spout off with all of his talking points or things he wants to say about AA that he can't say and then he acts as though he is surprise as he oooh's and aaahhh's

21. I think he is ill, and FNC "handlers" are exploiting him and making him sicker
FNC is the moral equivalent of the sort of people who used to buy human "freaks" to exhibit to the jeering crowds. If they had any integrity at that station, they would let Beck have some much-needed medical leave time to get his illness addressed.

I do not think Beck is entirely responsible for his views right now--I think he is profoundly disturbed. After treatment, he might still be an asshole, but for now I'll reserve judging his character, because he is not in his right mind. The Fox execs, on the other hand, are presumably sane, and they are committing an evil act by exploiting an ill man to foment hatred.

29. I think he's really got a problem, yes.
But his politics-- the whole show he does on television-- that's just what gets him attention. He'd be dancing and singing if that got him attention. I do think there's something wrong with him.

33. I think it's real
I flipped through a couple of his books at work. They are crazy. Not just in what he says but the way they are laid out - the way topics jump around. If you'd never heard of Glenn Beck or seen a clip of him you would get the feeling from glancing through his books that they were the work of a very disorganized and disturbed mind. And it's not just the subject matter - it's the cluttered/jumbled/manic mess.

Even his "Christmas" book - that was a story instead of random things copied and pasted and highlighted was very disturbing. He tries to convey a "fun" incident with his grandfather that is clearly invented and even if it weren't would be more disturbing than charming.

35. this will explain his insanity
my favorite you tube-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85ILt3c3S8A

beck has an excessive need for certainty, like many on fox. normally it would cause institutional care or breakdown because of irrational fear caused by natural pervasive uncertainty. in the struggle that so many on the right have to avoid the uncertainty that surrounds them they gravitate to fantasies that provide certainty by enabling denial of uncertainty. he's living in a bubble of certainty, like limbaugh. they are very bright otherwise but if that bubble breaks they'd be paralyzed with fear.
to a lesser extent that's the secret of the major power structures, why dictators and kings must maintain unquestioned certitude. if their certainty cracks they're done.

He's nuts and guided by producers to say more crap.

There's a reason why FOX gets more viewers, and it's not because they're a "better" news outlet than CNN. I think they're using hypnotic suggestion and all those colors.
