Man faces 43 child porn charges

A man who lives two blocks from Johnson Elementary School has been charged with possession of child pornography.

Robert Robinson, 49, of the 4600 block of Blue River Avenue, faces 43 counts of possession of child pornography. Each count carries a potential penalty of up to $100,000 in fines and between three and 25 years of imprisonment.

The images were discovered after Mount Pleasant police went to the man's home to relay a message from a church. The church's pastor told police that Robinson was stalking women and improperly looking at children during services and gatherings. The church asked police to tell Robinson he was no longer welcome at the church.

No one answered the door at Robinson's home, but the officer could see a man sleeping on the couch. He tried to make contact with the man, but got no response. He then went to the dining room window to try to get the man's attention. When the officer looked inside he saw a magazine that appeared to have a photograph of a minor female engaged in sexual activity.
