The DLC members who are just a breath away from being Republicans anyway would love to lose the majority since it would give them an excuse not to change anything else. Sorry, we don't have the votes for Cap & Trade...

4. It would give them a very easy cover for not passing anything.
Enough debacles like the health care struggle, where even Ben Nelson is realizing that his actions have become a political liability, and the DLC members are going to have a lot of trouble getting any support.

10. agreed. 60 votes is an albatross that carries more negatives than positives
when you have democrats from conservative states steering legislation towards the center, the left howls and completely ignores the electoral reality and gives the finger to the entire party, and being so close to 60 frightens independents worried about either party controlling a 60 vote majority and legislating via the fringe. The latter point is why I think Brown will win, as there are national implications plain as the nose on your face. If I'm a centrist, I'd want to steer congress towards the center and vote for the Republican even if I preferred Coakley as a candidate or leaned left.

14. No it's not.
They are the problem with the Democratic party. The real reason for this countries problems and why we are having so many problems helping our own people. The Republicans could not do all their damage without help from the other side.

15. The purpose of the DLC is, always was, and always will be
to undermine the Democratic party from within. A Repuke majority is easier for them than a (theoretical) Democratic majority, as we have now, because they don't have to make up new excuses and move the goal posts constantly.

17. True.
The DLC is the Democratic branch of the Republican party.
I say this as a moderate/eclectic.

24. So you know the minds of people you don't know.
Who wouldn't ask you for the time on a good day. You know exactly what they think and exactly what they want.

I guess you overheard them talking while they were hiding under your bed.
