Race is in a spinout (MA - Senate)
Martha Coakley made a jaw-dropping declaration earlier this week at the only live televised debate in Boston that she has deigned to do. She said, and I quote, “I’ve traveled the state and met tremendous people.’’ If she did, it was under the cover of darkness, with an assumed name.

Because if she had really traveled the state, if she had taken the time to meet voters, Coakley wouldn’t be in the position she finds herself in now, heading into the final weekend of this special election campaign in a perilously close race against a GOP state legislator nobody had heard of a mere six months ago.

...snip...

Scott Brown may not share the political values of most of the state and may lack the experience for the US Senate. And, let’s be honest, his nights probably aren’t tied up with Mensa meetings. But he’s out there hustling, meeting, asking, and convincing. People respect that, a lot.

...snip...

Prominent Democrats in Boston are privately seething at the candidate and her campaign. First and foremost, they see the immediate impact defeat could have on the health care overhaul. Beyond that, they fret about the seismic impact a Republican victory in Massachusetts would have on Obama’s national standing. And they are nearly despondent about what a defeat would mean to Ted Kennedy’s legacy and memory.

7. I wouldn't say so. If anything, they're helping us.
There are more than enough Democats in MA to ensure a victory... the question is whether they will get out and vote.

If anything, I'd say that coverage giving fair warning that she is about to lose (and that the consequences are significant) can only help.

9. I hope you are right. I have become so cynical
in my golden years I need to give myself a good "talking to" every now and then.

10. I agree
The headlines predicting a Republican win, especially those that remind voters that this is Ted Kennedy's seat are a call to arms and will lead to Coakley's victory.

8. We will see...
...after the voters get done voting. What most are ignoring is the fact that HOW can the Senate seat in MA be in such jeopardy of going to a Republican?

Did the DLC get too complacent and expected a cakewalk to the seat once held by Kennedy? I find it amazing that the Repugs are literally making the Democrats look weak, sheepish and foolish. I mean they allowed 1 Repub dominate the crafting of the so called 'insurance reform' and allowed the Blue Dogs to run an extortion racket (IE: Nelson).

If this seat goes to the Repugs, then the Democratic Party is indeed devoid of any reality and are at fault for letting the Repugs re-gain their stride.

Only time will tell though...

6. No one knows who the hell Scott is.
He's had as much time to travel the state as Martha and I never saw his mug anywhere near where I live.

12. MA dems have two choices
support national Romney mandated health insurance that does not offer access to affordable health care
or
stay home, let the GOP win, and kill the mandate..

Either way it is a loss for the country..
