Looking for the five top reasons to leave Iraq...
My granddaughter has to write a paper for school but she's unable to do any research on the net because she's in the midst of moving and everything -- computer, printer, paper -- is packed. I told her I would give her a list of reasons to think about, from which she could choose the five to write about.

I started a list tonight to discuss with her, but then thought I'd ask you folks what you think the top reasons are...

Here's my list so far:

1. Loss of American and Iraqi lives; life-changing injuries.

2. War was launched on lies -- no WMD, no tie to 9/11.

3. It's making us less safe and building a whole new generation of America-haters.

4. We've lost the war; there's no clear goal now -- if there ever was (Saddam is dead, and elections were held, and yet the country is a disaster compared to what it was when we arrived).

5. The cost.

2. 1. It was bin Laden who attacked us on 9/11. And he isn't in Iraq.
It seemed like we had the whole world with us and behind us when we went after the people who attacked us on 9/11.
And now it seems we have the whole world against us for waging this war of choice in Iraq.

Thanks, George.

3. US can't impose a country and political system on Iraqis
they are the only people who can make their nation work.

USA doesn't understand Iraq. USA can't speak for Iraqis, any of them.

USA is imposing our own needs/issues on Iraq. Iraq has enough problems of their own with out having to prove Bush is a great war President

USA does not have a clear goal or objective in Iraq. Who are we protecting? Who's side are we on? Who do we want to win? Who do we want to lose?

6. Inability/lack of real desire to care for wounded soldiers while
not paying attention/caring for the security of the US. Not enough troops to do it all.

7. Every ten hours a soldier loses his/her life
Every ten hours dozens of Iraqis loses their lives.

Just repeat that five times. It deserves so much more attention.

8. Because...
peace does not come out of the barrel of a gun.

Nor does democracy.
