Blame Game Backfiring on Republicans?

Mike Allen notes that the GOP is blaming the Obama administration for the failed Christmas Day airplane attack. "But Republican lawmakers, candidates, pundits and commentators -- and the Bush administration -- blamed the CLINTON administration for 9/11."

Flashback to September 2006, Secretary of State Rice told the New York Post editorial board: "Nobody organized this country or the international community to fight the terrorist threat that was upon us until 9/11... We just weren't organized as a country either domestically or as a leader internationally. But what we did in the eight months was at least as aggressive as what the Clinton Administration did in the preceding years... We were not left a comprehensive strategy to fight al Qaeda."

That logic would mean the Bush administration is also culpable for the intelligence failures discovered over the last week.

1. Invading and occupying the wrong countries and
throwing a huge, indiscriminate net over the American people and the entire world is not "organization" Condi. It's panic.

2. She is such a LIAR
We were not left a comprehensive strategy to fight al Qaeda."
The Hart-Rudman Report which was two years in the making and dealt entirely with developing a comprehensive strategy for combatting terrorism and specifically Al Qaeda was on their desk on day one. Al Gore had also put together a comprehensive report on terrorism and it also was also at the new Administration's command. Dick Cheney was made The Man on Terrorism and was to coordinate our methods of fighting it. He held exactly zero meetings on the subject before 9-11. John Ashcroft submitted the Budget for Dept of Justice the first week of September, 2001 and he had cut virtually every dollar for fighting terrorism. Yep they were on top of things all Right...

3. But, but, wait, Condi's memory seems to have failed her.
Doesn't she remember, she and Bush don't have to take responsibility for this! Mary Matalin told us that Bush INHERITED 9/11! :sarcasm:

4. I think the Republicans have a bit of false exuberance...
The leaders of the Party believe that if they can make President Obama into a "failure", then the people will rush to put them back into power. I am not so sure about that. There are many Republicans that sat out the last race and they are not convinced yet that the Republicans have the answer to our nations problems, in my opinion.
