Time Warner, Fox Strike Cable Deal
Source: WSJ

JANUARY 2, 2010

By SHIRA OVIDE And NAT WORDEN

Time Warner Cable Inc. and News Corp. reached agreement on a new contract that keeps the Fox broadcast network on the air in millions of homes, ending a fierce television-programming dispute that each side had characterized as a crossroads for the television business.

"We're happy to have reached a reasonable deal with no disruption in programming for our customers," Glenn Britt, Time Warner Cable's chief executive, said in a statement late Friday.

"We're pleased that, after months of negotiations, we were able to reach a fair agreement with Time Warner Cable—one that recognizes the value of our programming," News Corp. President and Chief Operating Officer Chase Carey said.

The companies didn't disclose terms of the new deal. Terms of TV programming deals are typically kept under wraps and include a bundle of channels, making it difficult to tell how much Time Warner Cable is paying. Contract negotiations had been deadlocked over a $1 monthly per-subscriber fee that News Corp. had demanded for its Fox network stations.

7. Details were apparently not disclosed
But I'll bet a dollar to a hole in a donut it means higher rates for subscribers, more money for Fox and more money for Time Warner. I'd be ecstatic to be proved wrong, but I'm pretty sure I won't be.
