Homeless Get (Fake) Designer Shoes For Holidays
LA WEEKLY

If you see a homeless person hot stepping in some Manolo look-alikes or strutting in what appear to be brand new Air Jordans, we don't blame you for doing a double take. But it's all good. Turns out counterfeit footwear seized by Los Angeles police in the Fashion District and elsewhere is being donated to the homeless.

Where authorities used to have to destroy such goods, they can now be passed along to nonprofits for use by the homeless under a California law introduced by local state Sen. Gil Cedillo. As long as the trademark holder consents, the fake goods can be given a second life.

3. I don't know.
If I would have to guess I'd guess no, but, I don't know. I am glad though to see something being put to good use instead of going to waste. It would be nice to see some kind of program that went around the city everyday collecting food from restaurants that were going to be thrown out, but, could still be used to feed the homeless.

I love stories like this.

Peace,
Xicano

6. I hope some get donated to women's shelters
There's a special "shop" near where I live. It's free to the women escaping violence & trying to get back into the workforce. There are very nice things there ( donate stuff all the time).. It also operates as a thrift shop, where the things are also for sale to the public/.the money goes to pay for the rent & salaries for the ladies who work there..and the women who get free stuff, have some presentable clothing to go job hunting in..

there's kid stuff too

7. No wonder the "welfare queens" stories keep coming.
Repukes can always turn a positive into a negative. It's just their nature.

8. Wonderful! Reusing and recycling goods for the needy.
Great concept. They should try this with housing too.

9. ...and Hannity, O'Lielly and Limbaugh will run disgusting images of these folks
on their programming claiming that they are the product of the Obama 'give-away' administration where now the homless are wearing designer shoes.

Count on it!

that came to my mind. Although the twisting of the facts is what's "disgusting."
