I've seen this multiple times over the past week -- "you just gave us President Palin", on and on and on and on.

Sarah Palin quits when the going gets tough. Look what happened in Alaska. If she couldn't hack that job, why in God's name do you think she'd successfully make it through a presidential campaign? Look what happened during the last one!

Again: I want to know how some of you honestly believe she has any political traction whatsoever. Seriously.

We're never going to get that hard-core 30%. It's a given. At the same time, there is NOBODY undamaged enough in the front-runners of the GOP for them to even have a credible candidate this time around. Whom exactly do most of you think they're going to nominate?

Again: We have the White House. We have a majority in both the House and the Senate. I can't figure out why we keep caving, and I REALLY can't figure out why people are so convinced that Palin has any traction whatsoever. Why?

I'm wondering if the GOP will use her to try to win back some congressional seats next year. Yeah, I don't think she has a chance at the White House, but if she can pop up now and then in the media with her "folksy" ways and sayings, maybe she could sway some voters to vote "R." I predict she will appear more and more in those states and districts with close races as November of next year draws closer.

I don't think the GOP wants her in the White House as much as they want more "Rs" in Congress.

No doubt they cheated, but I don't think they could have come up with three million fake votes across the country.

Put aside the question of whether Bush et al. stole the Electoral College. If they stole 2004, that's how they did it. But that's not my point.

It still matters that a majority of the voters, despite his egregious performance in his first term, wanted George Bush to continue being president. To me, that says that there are 62 million people stupid enough to vote for Sarah Palin, regardless of how clearly unqualified she is.

I believe the most electable Republican on the market right now is Mitt Romney. Admittedly that's not saying much; the guy has the personality of a wet dishrag. However, so far as we know he's faithful to his wife and he has some minimal level of competence, so he gets the nod.

Here's what will happen: Palin and Romney will start the 2012 primary season together. Palin will appeal to two groups: fundamentalists, and guys who pull the lever with their penises. Romney will appeal to Repukes who expect their president to at least be capable of leading the nation. After they get through South Carolina, Palin will quit the race and endorse Romney, thereby making him approved in the eyes of the evangelicals. (The guys who want to vote for Palin because it would be cool to have a MILF in the White House will have to stay home, drink beer and complain about the direction the country's going.)

There is nobody in the current GOP pantheon of presidential nominee front-runners that hasn't already been damaged or debunked. Palin's fifteen minutes are almost up, too -- wait till the ugly custody fight between Levi Johnston and her daughter, which should yield some tasty morsels in open court.

In other words, those of us who can figure it out can unequivocally say the only reason Republicans win is because Democrats out-RINO them. She is no threat. As long as we give her power, she has it, and so do other Republicans, for that matter.
