UPI headline: Pope to Probe Child Sex Abuse in Ireland
Put your commas in as you see fit on the title.
Sardonically of course

Pope to Probe Child Sex Abuse in Ireland

VATICAN CITY, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Pope Benedict XVI met Friday with leaders of the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland and promised to investigate decades of sexual abuse of children.

The pope met at the Vatican with Cardinal Sean Brady and Monsignor Diarmuid Martin, the archbishop of Dublin, the Italian news agency ANSA reported. They discussed the Murphy Report, released Nov. 26, which said four men who served as archbishops of Dublin covered up allegations of sexual abuse between 1960 and the 1980s.

Archbishop Giuseppe Leanza, the Vatican ambassador, or papal nuncio, to Ireland, and members of the Curia were at the meeting.

"The Holy Father shares the sense of outrage, betrayal and shame felt by so many of the faithful in Ireland and joins them in prayer at this difficult time for the life of the Church," the Vatican said in a statement.

Benedict also said the church would investigate how the abuse occurred and what steps should be taken to prevent similar conduct by priests and other church employees.

1. Anywhere you find Catholic priests , you are likely to find pedophilia
Edited on Sat Dec-12-09 05:52 AM by SoCalDem
Asking a male to bypass their normal sexual urges, is asking for "abnormal males only" to apply.

Some may suppress their urges, but human nature being what it is, I don't believe for a minute, that priests are celibate..secretive, manipulative, maybe..but celibate,,not so much.

the more decent ones will take up with a like-minded nun, or a church secretary, but the creepy ones choose children...and know that if and when they are found out, the most harm to them and their career, will be a move to a new hunting ground/parish..not a trial and jail..

The catholic priesthood is the ultimate job for a pedophile..

3. "Pope to probe child" - not the best way to start a headline on a planned
investigation of sexual abuse.

I really don't mean to make light of this - it is one of the most, if not the most, disgusting crimes on individuals. Children trust adults for their care. To have that trust violate in this manner is beyond any forgiveness.

There is no punishment harsh enough for these offenders.

5. Psalm 23

A psalm of David.
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.

4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
