Ireland to honor Kennedy at homestead.
Saying the late US Senator Edward M. Kennedy had been one of the best friends Ireland ever had on Capitol Hill, the Irish finance minister announced yesterday that the government would provide funding for a new visitor attraction at the ancestral homestead of the Kennedy family.

“Today, in a modest way, I would like to honor the memory of a great man from a great family,’’ Finance Minister Brian Lenihan said in the text of his budget speech, which The Irish Times posted on the Web.

“The government will provide funding for a project at the Kennedy Homestead in Dunganstown, County Wexford, from which his forefathers emigrated in the early 19th century.

“The development of this important visitor attraction will be a welcome boost to tourism,’’ Lenihan said.

1. Definitely a great man, but
too bad the Massachusetts voters couldn't honor him with a better than 10% voter turnout to select his successor.

3. I almost forgot to vote because I had doctor appointments on Tuesday.
I was ready to catch the bus home when I remembered.

Where does that kind of apathy come from?

4. The race was pretty clearly Coakley's to lose all along.
I think a lot of people just saw it as a done deal. Add cold temps, a few weeks before Christmas and a workday and there ya go. Not what I would like to see, but not unexpected.
