American Exceptionalism: When you hear this phrase, it is important
that we understand that for NeoConservatives and Conservatives especially
this has much deeper meaning than America is an exceptional country.

Being a Super Power along with our many positive qualities, makes
us an exceptional country. An Exceptional country therefore is
excepted from certain things. We cannot, for example, be brought
before any kind of world court. We are "excepted" from things
for which others may be held accountable.

Understanding this should help explain why the Right went ballistic
over Obama's Bow to Emperor of Japan. I do not have a problem
with the bow. To a person like me, No big deal. To the Righties....
whew!

I throw this out just so we all understand. American Exceptionalism
is like the Holy Grail to many on the Right.

I think America is the greatest country in the world.

1. I'm no neo-con but I had a problem with the deep bow simply because

it wasn't reciprocated by the Emperor -- because that is the way he denotes his superiority to everyone else, who IS expected to bow to him.

If we believe in "all men are created equal," then we shouldn't be bowing to men who fashion themselves to be God-Emperors. Unless, of course, they are bowing back.

2. "Waive, Britania, Britania waive the rules." American exceptionalism is no different.
The more imperial jingoism changes the more it stays the same.

At least since Rome called 'Pax Romana' what was really a 'Pox Romana.' ;-)

3. This is why they crow about Obama apologizing around the world.
Our Exceptionalism makes it so we do not apologize.

4. Yes, it is a sense of being superior to other human beings.
No wonder Cheney had a problem with Mandela.

Mandela is more exceptional than Cheney.

Cheney understands nothing but money.
