And there are other reasons for what appears to be a lack of responses, including the fact that when people agree with something, they often don't comment. Many of us don't use the rec/unrec feature anyhow. And then there's the fact that it's the evening before a holiday and many people are probably either doing something else related to preparing for it or traveling.

Don't assume nobody cares.

That says the forum isn't so heavily traveled as this one.

I'm still absorbing the horror of Jamie's story. I think maybe the silence you see is not disinterest, but genuine horror and the inability to know how to overcome it.

There was a story about an old man and his sons being arrested and accused of raping their children and grandchildren and nieces and maybe nephews. Every day we are confronted with the fact that 3 out of 5 girl children are raped/incested and 2 out 5 boys.

My theory for the horror...Christianity. The worst are always the "holiest." 5 million women have been murdered so that instead of saying GODDESS we say GOD.

But today...let's engage and not divide. Let's be thankful that we are alive to be angry/happy/confused/lost/or any of the 108 emotions (I was told about.) Today we are alive. I wish you peace and comfort and joy.

I surf the Latest Discussion page and don't go into any individual forums except for the Lounge. I have never specifically gone to the Editorial forum and only read its posts when they make the front page or latest discussion.

I think until the US can get it's house in order and eliminating abuse how can we go around the world and attempt to help? Of course we will do what we can.

I agree with another poster religion is behind the majority of the abuse and until the US realizes that "main stream" religion is a big part of the problem it's not going to go away!!
