Police: Man kills puppy misbehaving before Steelers game

A Bridgeville man told police he killed his girlfriend's puppy yesterday afternoon because the animal would not behave before the Steelers football game broadcast.

William Woodson, 22, is being held on $25,000 bail in the Allegheny County Jail, pending a preliminary hearing on animal cruelty at 1 p.m. next Monday before District Judge Elaine McGraw in Bridgeville.

The puppy, a 13-week-old pit bull named Flip, had been the focal point of recent arguments between Mr. Woodson and his girlfriend, Christine Gielarowski, 21, with whom Mr. Woodson lives on Jane Way.

Ms. Gielarowski told police her boyfriend kicked the dog because the pup would not walk with them. When the near lifeless dog no longer was able to move, Mr. Woodson walked away from it and his girlfriend, she told police.

The witness called police after he found the animal lying limp and dying in the 100 block of Union Street. By the time police arrived, the dog was dead and Mr. Woodson was gone.

4. Did you even bother to read past the headline on that study
That study, like all the others that looked at this belief, states that there is no connection.

"What did the study find?
This study found no significant increase in incidence of domestic violence when professional football was being played. The increases in LASD domestic violence dispatches seen during the '93-'94 football season were not quite large enough to be statistically significant. There were fewer LASD dispatches for domestic violence during the '94-'95 football season compared to off-season."

8. Did you read that one?
I just read the note. TO quote

"The first analysis showed that there was no unmediated relationship between football and domestic violence"

3. Willing to bet the puppy's behavior had little to do with this guy's actions--
Edited on Mon Nov-23-09 01:38 PM by TwilightGardener
more likely he wanted to hurt his girlfriend by hurting the pup. A sicko either way.

37. exactly....often an abuser will kill or harm the pets in order to frighten the other person(s)
They often turn on the pets or the children in order to terrorize the woman into obeying.
They are mentally and spiritually sick.

If they forced him to watch Browns games it'd be considered cruel and unusual punishment. No way that could be legal.

14. I don't think the breed matters in this case--this was a puppy, probably acting like
a normal puppy. The real story is, the man is a violent psycho.

I just don't like pit bulls, when I was little I saw pit bull fights and watch some of them attacking people. Pit bulls are not regular dogs I can say.

31. Dogs that have been trained/abused/forced to fight are not regular dogs. I agree.
Have you ever been around a pit bull that was treated humanely, raised in a loving home? Have you ever seen any other dog fights?

35. my neighbors was walking his Cocker Spaniel when some other guy was walking across the street
with a pit bull, the pit bull got loose run over the Cocker Spaniel grab it from the neck, the owner of the pit bull didn't know what to do until some guy came out of a home did grab the pit bull from it ears and pull it apart another neighbor came out with a shovel to hit the dog at least once so it would not attack anybody that was trying to save the Cocker Spaniel.

33. Very true, at some point the stubborn kicks in on puppies, kind of like
it does with adolescent humans....they start asserting themselves, and unfortunately it happened with this puppy wehn he was around the world's biggest asshole

28. The pit bull was three months old.
The guy kicked it to death because it was almost kickoff time and the little puppy wouldn't finish doing its business outside. This had nothing to do with the puppy being a pit.

29. No, that's just AC's schtick around here
Pitbulls are all evil, without exception, along with most larger dogs. Because how they're trained and socialized has absolutely nothing to do with it. I mean, just look at all the news reports about pitbulls attacking people! The media would NEVER overhype something like that just for ratings and money, would they?

Most pit bulls I have met are gentle giants. What can you expect when you treat your dog like shit would be a more accurate analysis of the situation
