Et tu, Bernie?
Note: the Subject title is meant sarcastically!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/22/bernie-sanders-pushes-bac_n_366955.html

"The overwhelming majority of Americans want to be able to choose between a strong public option and a private insurance plan. Without that competition, there is very little in this bill that would keep health insurance premiums from escalating rapidly," Sanders said. "This legislation cannot simply be a huge subsidy to private insurance companies that will get millions of new customers and be able to raise their rates as high as they want."

Thank you, Senator Sanders. May your words be heeded.

1. even *with* the supposed pre-existing condition ban
people will be screwed by this bill. The insurance companies have 2 YEARS to raise premiums on the pool that they will use to cover those of us with pre-ex conditions. Did our reps not learn a damn thing from the recent credit card fiasco? Oh yeah, give the thieving bastards TIME to figure a way around the new rules and TIME to triple and quadruple rates before the rules kick in. No problem for the reps -- they get their photo-op and are listed in the history books as *historic reformers*, while middle america fights over the scraps these same reformers tossed out the windows of their limousines....

BAH. :grr:

2. The legislature is doing what it is supposed to do
The big corporations and price-fixing corporate syndicates own the legislature.

It just takes some of the public longer to find out that our republican form of government's dedication to be representatives of the people is based on the medieval idea that the people should be serfs.
